We stayed in one home that had two huge walk in closets directly across the hallway from each other, past the master bedroom but before the master bathroom.........plus closets in the other two bedrooms...plus pantry in kitchen.

Cases of water could go on the closet floor.

Granted, the garages would be too hot to store things in.

It really makes you wonder what kind of atmosphere was in the home and what made her buy all of those weapons.

Not only all the weapons, but all the ammunition for those weapons. What was she afraid of or preparing for?

And where was the father in all of this? Everybody is talking about how the mother raised her son, but the father was in his life until four years ago when they divorced and the boy would have been 16 years old.

Good point. Where is the responsibility of the father in this situation?

I think she had issues if she felt the need to stockpile weapons and ammo and it seems like she knew she was losing control over her son one week prior to the shooting.

We will never know what was going through her mind.

Even more sad as I am reading that many other children have questions over the safety in going to school. Children everywhere must been concerned about what happened and they need to be reassured they are safe.

Maybe the mother was paranoid in a clinical sense and the son was becoming so, too.

As I posted, and posited yesterday, virtually every mass killer we hear about was "kind of quiet and reserved, kept to himself, didn't have many friends". I beleive that this young man, like most of these types, live in a fantasy world they have created in their own head. They watch movies and TV, and play violent video games and don't have the socialization that helps build empathy for others. If their fantasy world consists of dark thoughts of killing other humans for fun, sport, or whatever reason, they are a tick of the clock or an angry word, from carrying out their fantasy. We can all say we don't understand how it can happen, and that is true - we do not - because our minds simply do not go to a place such as that.
