Default Pants on the ground in Ocala.

Ocala bans sagging pants on city-owned property - Washington Times

I just cannot keep thinking about that American Idol "contestant" Larry Platt of about 55 who wrote that song about "pants on the ground"!

Wow, this is very specific. Pants can't be worn two inches below your natural waist.

It's funny how as you get older your waist seems to get higher. Maybe we need a law for those who wear their pants two inches ABOVE their natural waist.

Congratulations to Ocala. The majority of the populace may well have had enough of the 'in your face' vulgarity of a few. Imitating convicts or persons under arrest is not emblematic of individuals who want to live in a decent society.

I know many lawyers will be injured in the scramble to represent the first ones cited under this new ordinance. Sad, but the lure of very hefty 'civil rights' case attorney's fees paid by stupid you and stupid me is overpowering to these champions of justice.

Are the low riding pants that much of a problem in Ocala? I would hate to be the policeman who makes the first arrest. He will be accused of being racist and of profiling a certain population. The ACLU would have a field day with this case. Better hope the first person arrested is an old white guy from The Villages in his low rider shorts and is stumbling out of Harry's Grill overstuffed on their wonderful jambalaya.

Actually, I have seen kids of all races with these very low riding pants with most of their underwear showing. It is probably more often than not kids from the suburbs trying to look "cool" and **** off their parents. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sagging_(fashion)

This will never stand up to any court. We may agree on the need for this but I see violations of soooo many personal freedoms in the name of decency. What one considers appropriate a whole different set of rules may apply to others within their community and that will be what sets the standards. This is just another lame attempt to legislate morality, and that just won't happen. The standards are those of the community, not the courts and till the community disallows them nothing will change. The government is not the answer to everything!

I agree it is a stupid law that will be thrown out rather quickly by any judge that follows the FL and US Constitutions.

A while back I entered Publix at Colony Plaza at the same time a young man on his lunch break entered with his pants hanging off his butt. I whispered to him "young man your pants are falling down". The next time I saw him in the store he had them up where they belong. Respect is usually paid back with respect. It was a positive experience for me.

I totally agree. Wonder if Barney from Mayberry would be thrown in jail...
