Amazing achievement to put men on the moon. Cannot see (mankind) doing anything like this again for quite some time.

Apollo 11 landed on the moon July 20, 1969. Armstrong's walk July 21, 1969. I remember watching the whole mission in amazement. RIP Neil Armstrong.

Neil Armstrong is a true hero and a very brave man. Begged my parents to let me stay up late to watch him walk on the moon in 1969.

Yes it’s sad that he is gone, but wow, what a life he lived.

And as for bravery, it reminds me of what John Glen said were his final thoughts before his historic flight, “I was perched on top of a rocket with a million parts all built by the lowest bidder!”

My mother, who had a fascination for all things space-related, came home from work on June 14, 1969 and told me and my younger brother to pack a bag - we were going to Florida to watch history being made! Standing on the beach on June 16 watching Apollo 11 take off is still one of the most vivid memories of my childhood.
