Perhaps it is a sad commentary to see how the next generation has transitioned to the anger and rage during the spring breaks at Miami Beach. Althougth I could never afford to go when I was in college my colleagues who did go talked about the partying, drinking and the beach. Not one word about any violence.
It is sad to see where the local business do not even want the crowd there anymore, as opposed to how they were welcomed in the past. Scenes on TV are disturbing, |

We rented a condo on the beach in Redington Shores for years before we purchased in TV. We used to dread Spring Break and the youngsters coming to the beach each year, they were up all night raising hell and slept all day. But we never had VIOLENCE. This is a new generation.

Personally, I don't see much difference between today and many years ago. Spring Break has always meant the same thing to me. An out-of-control event that makes no sense and one that I have no interest in having anything to do with.

I always worked during spring break, no time to party. Times have changed where the young people don't work, just party.

It's not only college kids on spring break.
Some years back when the Pro-Bowl was in Hawaii the players could invite their family's and friend's. The next week most motels along the beaches were shut down from trashing the rooms. |

Let us not forget the media that is right there on the spot to present the bad and the ugly......as though it were a general condition.....which it is not.
Media distortion with bias....as usual. The majority go for spring break to have a good time...like young people do. _______________________________________________ ![]() |

My high school friend called me other day to remind me it was 50yrs ago this week 4 of us 17yr olds from NJ jumped in a car and drove to Ft Lauderdale for spring break week. We still can't believe each of our parents let us go being only 17 years of age. What a trip!! No violence only shenanigans.

Back when you were in college there were no "student loans" that could be spent on anything, ie spring break etc.

They are disobedient, disrespectful oafs!
Noisy, crazy, sloppy, lazy, loafers! Kids! You can talk and talk till your face is blue! But they still just do what they want to do! Why can't they be like we were Perfect in every way? What's the matter with kids today? ---From "Bye Bye Birdie" - 60 years ago. |

My H.S. graduation was in '62. I never had a desire to go to FL for Spring Break during college. My parents wouldn't have supported it and I wouldn't have snuck to do it. I didn't even "party" in college. I always figured if the kegger got raided (and they did quite often) I would be one of the "lucky" ones to be caught and my parents would have blown a gasket for sure since they were paying my tuition etc. I'd have been pulled so fast, my head would spin PLUS they'd say "if you want to act stupid do it on your own!" Today many parents support teen parties or look the other way as they want to be viewed as cool. Today, I'm grateful for my conservative up-bringing!!!
