Default Car Insurance

Was your insurance company charged for this? Recently, I took my car to Bill Bryan for service. While I was talking to a service technician, there was a young man who came up to me and said he was there as a courtesy to Bill Bryan as Bill Bryan didn't want any of his customers to have "chips" in their windshield and he would fix them. It was MY impression that Bill Bryan was paying for this since this young man was there as a "courtesy" to Bill Bryan's customers. Now my insurance has been billed for $161.00 to "fix" four pinhole size I guess you would say "cracks" but they really weren't even cracks - you wouldn't even know they were there unless you took your fingernail and ran over the windshield. I told my insurance company not to pay it. If anyone else has had this happen to them, please pm me - I think Bill Bryan should be paying for this.

ilvgolf: First repairing chips in windshields is a way to save on your deductible and prevent the windshield from eventually cracking. The one admonition is that it is not a good practice to repair chips if they are within the main viewing area, the charges to your insurance company should not have an affect on your insurance policy at least with most insurers.

Having said that the approach used by this repairman and sanctioned by bill Bryan and as you describe it is unethical in my view.

If you are like most motorist you retain an insurance identification card in your glove compartment and that is most likely how this repair guy knew whom to bill

I wouldn't be wasting my time complaining here I would let Bill Bryan know how despicable you found his practice to be

Insurers can not charge a deductible on windshield replacement in Florida.

He had no business prying into your personal papers or glove box. I would at a minimum complain to the owner or general manager of the dealership.
