Default Telemarketing and robo calls increasing?

I have our number registered with the do not call list....but continue to get calls....even more in recent weeks.

We know for sure that if the phone rings between 5:30 pm and 7 pm it is somebody selling something or some robo call message.

There apparently must be a loop hole that allows these callers to continue.

I used to think that hanging up in their face was rude. But after some of the tele marketers do just that when I try to tell them they are breaking the law.....I now hang up the instant I detect what the call is!

Are you experiencing more calls as well?

Cool

I am starting to get a lot of these types of calls on my cellphone. I normally don't answer calls, for which I do not recognize the number, but is very distracting after a while.

What I have done on my cellphone is block those callers. Once you know the phone number of the caller, add it to your contact list, as something like spammer 1, spammer 2, etc. Then go into the contact (edit) and block the caller. You will never get another call from them to ring through.

This method works on an iPhone...

We get repeated daily calls from something called RCLG enterprises or something like that. It's tiresome since they don't leave a message.

The saving grace for us is Comcast Caller ID which is displayed on our television and on our phones.

We're getting more recently. Yesterday we got 2 calls to take a survey. Don't know if it was from the same company. We are also on the do not call list but it doesn't seem to do any good. We don't contribute to any charity that solicits over the phone. Just curtly say "not interested" and hang up.

I got a robo call today that I had to laugh at. It was from some life alert company & it started by saying "Hello senior!" (I am 45) They told me that I was approved for their product BECAUSE they got my name & number from a family member and wanted to know when can they get me their product.
There is not one person in my family (or my friends for that matter) that would give out my name & number to a telemarketer.
I am also on the do not call list (not that it seems to matter)

Thanks, Mike. Lately, I've been getting spam calls on my iPhone. Will do as you suggested to keep at least some of the callers at bay.

Now I am beginning to think along the lines of fear.

Are the calls at suppertime from HVAC companies? Or are they calls to see if you are home?

So they can break in?

Cell phone numbers are noted as such on the lists that telemarketers buy they are breaking the law to call a cell phone as you are paying for the call and it is considered theft. I don't know who you are suppose to report these people to however. We are on the do not call list also and still get about 6 robo calls a day. Most of the prefixes that match mine are in a well off neighborhood and we get calls from charities daily. Non profits and political action committees are exempt from the do not call rules. And yes the republican party people call between 5:30 and 9 Pm at least twice a month the democrats only call during election time. I really hate it when they call at 8 am and wake me up if I was up late the night before. I have been thinking of unplugging the phone at night.

I suggest that you consider taking the call and wait for a person to respond. As soon as they do, politely ask for your name to be removed from their list. It has worked for me many times.

That works unless the dialer is on a rotary system. I block one number and later on I get another call from the same company on a slightly different number.

If you register with www.donotcall.gov you should not be receiving these calls. You can register your home phone and your cell phone. I think you have to renew the registration every so often on the website.
