At my age, and a very true lover of all things American, I am troubled by the flaws in our justice system. What kind of person doesn't follow the news? To me someone very uninformed and narrow minded. But that is who you are supposed to be if you serve on a jury.

I don't know what would make it better, but it clearly isn't keeping up with how people really live.

Please don't bash me.

Gracie I agree there must be flaws in our justice system. Wrongly convicted prisoners are being released everyday----mostly based on DNA evidence----after having served many years locked up as innocent victims of our justice system. The relative new DNA developments hopefully will help improve the justice system in certain cases. I was recently called for jury duty. A plea deal was made and we were dismissed. Plea agreements are quite common, otherwise, our courts would be "clogged" even more than they already are. I just wonder if there is a direct correlation between the number of cases our courts deal with to the date that lawyers started advertising. I would bet there is!

I would rather see 100 criminals found not guilty than one innocent person serve time for a crime they did not commit.

In theory, our justice system, both criminal and civil, should be an excellent one. But it has become in reality way too adversarial.
It seems to be not so much about justice, or about guilt or innocence as it should be. Rather it seems to be all about winning or losing, who has the best attorney, who can afford to spend the most money, etc., etc.
I don't know how to fix it, but it seems improvements need to be made.
Any ideas?
