Default N.y.c.

I am planning on going to NYC for a few days, to visit 911, and other sites. Would someone suggest a hotel,(that does not take getting a second mortgage) and what airport to fly into. Thanks for the help.

Are you renting a car or using taxis/public transportation? Best access to midtown is probably from LaGuardia, although Newark is not a bad choice either. There aren't any cheap hotels in Manhattan, at least none that you would want to stay at. Most are also older with relatively small rooms as well. Like most large cities, NYC is expensive. Bring your credit card and plenty of cash for tips. Beware taxi drivers that prey on tourists---you might end up traveling 20 miles to go 10 blocks away. Like most native New Yorkers, I've never been to the "sights", but Rockefeller Center at Christmas, the show at Radio City, the displays at FAO Schwartz are worth seeing. And you can get any food you want at some of the best restaurants in the world. Just be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine. Good luck and have a great trip!

Fly into Newark--LaGuardia is the equivalent of a 3rd wold airport, Grow an extra set of eyes-get a money belt-no purses-lots of pick pockets

When are you planning on going? How comfortable are you a a big city? Are you open to taking subway/bus? Mid January till spring break starting tends to be a little less expensive hotel wise.

Absolutely! Prices from the airports to midtown Manhattan are price fixed, but flying into Newark makes the most sense.
