Thanks for the input so far. Just a couple of additional bits of info regarding my request...

In reply to a previous question or two...I can access almost any show. Yes, I have Prime Video. So please forward your recommendations regardless of where you might have watched them.

Also, I do prefer higher resolution video. It doesn't have to be 4k or anything like that, but some of the older shows that are so grainy I probably wouldn't be able to get into. That's one of the reasons I requested something not toooo old in my op, like 2010ish or later.

Again, thanks for input so far. Keep the recommendations coming.

A good detective series on Prime is "Bosch" and it has a new season starting the 25th.

PugMom 06-08-2021 09:48 AM

the first 3 seasons of Fargo

Rome, The Tudors, The Following (its intense), Yellowstone (takes at least 2 episodes to appreciate), The Killing, can't think of many more that are at least 9-10 rating on our scale. We are junkies!! These are the ones that are exciting. Need dramas let us know.

I find very little worth watching on Network TV. These are all on cable: The First 48 (A&E); NYPD Blue (Netflix); Fargo (HBO): Better Call Saul (Netflix); The Wire (HBO); Ray Donovan (SHO); Justified (FX); Deadwood (HBO); Hell on Wheels (AMZ, Amazon); Shameless (HBO); Band of Brothers HBO); Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO); Veep (HBO); Mad Men (Netflix).

I just started watching lucifer....I know, terrible name and you think it's all about, devil, horror, and spooky......its not....its funny....give one episode a try...you might like it

Others...bloodline, last tango in Halifax, castratrophy,....I don't watch any scarey, violent, sci-fi, or Gothic stuff. I wanna to be entertained, laugh a little and if I find I'm thinking about the show latter after watching...its a good one.

We are re-watching Downton Abby on Netflix. Forgot how wonderful it was. We are really enjoying it.

Have to agree with:
Bosch
Nurse Jackie
Jack Ryan
Kominsky Method
I would add Game of Thrones
and for an offbeat choice:

The Handmaid's Tale

I'll even consider older series, but ideally it would be something a bit newer than a couple of my favorite shows which I mention below, maybe something from 2010 or later. And having a number of seasons "in the can" would be very nice too...

I like detective shows and such, but I am open to any type of series if it's interesting enough. To give you a clue to my tastes, in the past I've liked Monk, The Mentalist, some NCIS (the original is all I've seen), sitcoms and various other types of shows. I rarely get hooked on pure drama. Monk and The Mentalist which I mentioned above had something in common...very good detective plots with really fun main characters and a humorous slant in every episode.

Okay, I'm open to suggestions. Again, I will consider any show if it's good.

Anyone who lives in the Villages has to watch "The Kominsky Method!"

Since you like comedy, check out "Taskmaster". It is very funny and entertaining. It's described as a British comedy panel game show. Five contestants (mostly comedians) are assigned tasks to complete and are judged by the Taskmaster on how well they perform. His assistant runs the tasks.

You can find it for free on YouTube. Make sure it's the British version with Greg Davies.

The first episode of season 2 is a really good episode to watch to see if you like it.

It's very popular - they just finished series 11 and have been renewed through series 15. It's so popular that eight other countries have their own versions - the New Zealand version is pretty good and it's in English. The US version failed on Comedy Central mostly because they shortened it.
