Default Are We Under a Dome?

I guess I'm still used to Midwest storms where if you see a line of rain or storms coming in from the west, you know you're going to get wet. I cannot get used to the way rain is down here. I am in Silver Lake...a friend of mine lives 2.3 miles away in Weirsdale. We watched the radar tonight and thought "Yay! Finally! Some rain for the grass and flowers! (not to mention Paradise Lake)" Nope...not a drop but my friend 2.3 miles away got 3.8 inches!!

I've never seen a line of rain or storms literally split in half and go north or south around an area...or it horseshoes and rains all around us but not here. I'm sure the day will come and it will be our turn over here but for now, we wait and do a rain dance in the front yard!

Today was a classic case of Florida summer storms formed, fueled and driven by the line(s) of converging sea breezes. They are ephemeral in nature and as you have seen are VERY hit-or-miss.

here is a pretty good explanation. Weather Spectrum : Sea-Breeze Fronts | Weather Underground

Oh shoot. In South Florida I've seen it rain on one side of the house and not the other side.

It did rain in Caroline, at least at my house. I watched the web cams in all three squares and LSL was the only square where it rained.

It does seem like there is a dome at times...lol.

It is very weird. It was as black as coal all around us..you could hear the thunder and see the fork lightning, yet we were in this sunny "hole". Nothing ever happened. Agree.. where I come from it would have doused us within minutes..but not here. Strange.

This will happen "up north" as well. Black skies over there, with sun over here--- That's just how it works sometimes.

Of course right. Did I tell you about my house?

This is not a dome it is a certified bubble.

And this is the third day of hurricane season, you will soon see rain here, a lot of it, every afternoon.

Ha! That reminds me of when we were on vacation in Miami back in the 90s, having lunch at Wolfie's Rascal House deli (great Jewish deli, now closed I think) & we looked out the north windows & it was pouring down rain, but looking out the east windows the sun was shining....no rain. Granted, Wolfie's was a pretty big restaurant, but still that was weird!
