I like Macallans but that is a tad bit out of my price range. I can imagine a teenage grandson taking some out of the bottle and replacing it whatever else he could grab off the shelf!

About 20 years ago, I bought a case (3 bottles) of 2003 George T. Stagg Bourbon (142.7 proof). I kept one bottle, gave one bottle to my brother and gave one to my nephew, who promptly drank his. Now, my brother and I have these two bottles that are probably worth a couple of grand each. The older I get, the more I suspect that my nephew is smarter than we.

In the past I would buy Bourdeaux Futures. Usually by the time they matured they had appreciated so much in price that I was "afraid" to drink them. Sometimes they were past their prime when I drank them.
