Assuming that Manny was going to keep acting that way I think it's all for the best that he is gone. Jason Bay may not have Manny's numbers (it's close at least for the past two seasons) but considering we would have just lost Manny for nothing at the end of the season I think we got a solid long term player back in return. Baseball championships, like most sports, are won with defense (which includes pitching in baseball). Great hitters are nice but they don't guarantee anything. Heck we had some of the best hitting teams in baseball for 86 years before we won in 2004!
