The English language uses “they” “them” “their” as plural - gender neutral, all we would need is a singular the same way which would be used when sex is not the most important thing. Eg. “The captain is at the door. Let “them” (except the singular form would be used) in.” Obviously, some terms, such as “mother” “father” would stay gender specific but we do have the words, “parent” “sibling” etc so all is not lost. We could just extend the language a bit as Shakespeare did.

For 246 years the Marine Corps has been successfully defending America and her citizens and has set the bar for warriors across the world. Now a bunch of academics, probably book learned about leadership in combat and with no real world experience, come in and think they know what will make Marines better killers and warriors.
