This author made a whole lot of sense to me and so I wanted to share excerpts from his article as information only, information that clarifies an otherwise confusing issue .

Maajaid Nawaz should know what he is talking about because he spent 10 years while growing up in the UK as one of the leaders of a global Islamist group advocating the return to the caliphate. At 24 he was sentenced to five years in Mazara Tora prison. Today he is chairman of Quilliam, a counter extremism organization and author of "Radical : My Journey Out of Islamist Extremism" Here is what he said in a WSJ article 12/12-13-15

"How To Beat The Enemy" "To win against the jidhadists of Islamic State, isolate them,undercut their appeal to Muslims and avoid a clash of civilizations."

"Islam is a religion, and like any other faith it is internally diverse. Islamism by contrast is the desire to impose a single version of Islam on an entire society. Islamism is not Islam but an offshoot of Islam. It is a Muslim theocracy."

"In much the same way Jidhad is a traditional Muslim idea connoting struggle, sometimes a personal spiritual struggle, sometimes a struggle against a personal enemy. Jidhadism , however, is something else entirely. It is the doctrine of using force to spread Islamism."

"Barrack Obama and many liberal minded commentators have been hesitant to call the Islamist ideology by its proper name..........

I call this the Voldemort effect.......Many well meaning people in Mrs Rowling's fictional world (Harry Potter) are so petrified of Voldermort's evil that they do two things: They refuse to call Voldermort by name, instead referring to "He Who Must Not Be Named"and they deny he exists in the first place. Such dread only increases public hysteria, thus magnifying the appeal of Voldermort's power."

Thanks, not a star wars fan so had to google google Voldermort Effect. This issue like so many facing this nation could be successfully resolved if faced with calm thinking and not emotional reactions. Far too many of us react, emote or interject political ideology rather than objectively face down the issue. I am going to blame it on too much reality television
