According to the FL Dept of Agriculture there are 1.9 million concealed weapon licensees in FL, 8300 who live in Sumter County. That doesn't account for people who otherwise legally own firearms.

When was the last home invasion in The Bubble? Knowing that might influence my decision.

My home is protected / insured by Smith & Wesson, Glock, Springfield, Remington, Colt, Bushmaster and others. Never thought we needed bars on the doors...

The trouble with all of these devices is that the person buying them
is thinking that a criminal has the same concern about damaging your property as you do. Obviously that is not the case.

You go to the effort and expense of securing your door. By design all of our windows are close to ground level as a safe fire escape.
You can feel good that when a crook breaks into your home he will not get hurt and sue you for damages due to having gotten hurt going in and out of your property.

Weapons? That is a choice to be made before not after. Be sure
you are going to use it and not just wave it about.

Nope. Wrong again. After a neighborhood get together at which a handful of people said they have one. I thought I would ask.

There has been an increase in crime where the kick in the front door, grab and go.

A neighbor said, for $40, what the hell.

I have two but not to deter a home invasion. We purchased ours before the last hurricane and used them to reinforce the entry doors from being blown in....like others have said our home is protected...

We followed the Sumter county sheriff recommendation, much larger door plate, much longer screws, extra strength deadbolt, plus other deterrents as necessary.
