Here we go ahead with the dog poop thread, but I just had to add to the story line. We live on a cul-de-sac where all dog owners diligently pick up behind their pets. During the four years I've lived here, never was their an occasion to complain about The Poop. However, much as the earlier poster added, imagine my dismay to find an large deposit in our driveway, with others made over a few days. While discussing this with neighbors, it was made known to me that a family of foxes live at the end of the street, where non Villages property begins. The foxes are regularly seen in the neighborhood, and it explains my two dogs' near contortions to gain access to the shrub areas where the foxes gather. So, not "dog poop", but "Fox poop"

I live in Sanibel just east of Bonifay Country Club. I usually get up early in the morning and walk. One day last week I went out to get the paper in the driveway when a fox ran through our yard and between the neighbor's houses toward the golf course. Before that we had seen strange poop on our driveway a couple of times.

We live in Buttonwood one block over from the easement and foxes, cats, and coyotes have been sighted regularly

Not poop, but scat? lol, when I first moved to the "rural country" I called it "poop" and boy did I get some puzzled looks followed by "oh you mean scat?!?".

I had the joy of watching a fox teach her cubs how to catch a mole, and the kits scamper after the mom, after stopping to do some ruff and tumble play, for a few years. They are very much a cross between a cat and a dog in how they interact and play. I also watched a PBS documentary on fox and they said they can become tame like dogs in just two generations. I've also seen where someone has nursed a kit back to health and keep as a loving pet.

Unlike Raccoons who will just "neck" all your chickens for there blood and leave the carcasses, (I've had it happen), a fox will only take what it eats, which is mostly rodents and an occasional fowl or bird. If you look at the scat you will probably see some remnants which will also help identify it. Cyote's leave a much bigger package then fox, but can also be identified by it's contents vs that of a dog, which won't have any bits of fur or grass. You don't have to get to close for this examination but just a more observant look should let you know.

I'll become alarmed when it's human, then it is called "****" and I'll be sure to post.

They are just marking what used to be their territory. Up north, We have a fox that will come up to our front door and look in. But does not say anything.

People on this forum have varying opinions on this subject . However an enterprising German has taken this topic to a whole other level. He publishes a magazine called Koster and Kostier( sp) which is covers the topic of dog poop and related stories. Clearly many people there become inflamed with the thought of poop found on the bottom of their shoes.
