Outrageous - we drive under 5K miles per year with a PERFECT record. No claims and credit rating is 840.

So, we will shop around next week. We'd like to actually GO to insurance offices around The Villages, rather than phone or on-line. Went to Villages Insurance a couple years ago to get rates from them and no better than Progressive at the time.

Suggestions?
I got some good results with Lisa Faina, Allstate agent in Cooper City Fl. (Wherever that is) everything was handled by phone and e-mail. Allstate does not write property insurance in Florida now, but she arranged a fair quote from Tower Hill Insurance Exchange, a Gainesville mutual. < https://agents.allstate.com/lisa-faina-cooper-city-fl.html>

This is for everyone, not just the OP:

Here are the only solutions, but you won't like what I post:

1) pay the premium
2) self-insure
3) move to a state with cheaper insurance

Option 4---complain on TOTV---might not be as productive as the other 3

Option # 6. Get in touch with your State legislators and put some pressure on for some real changes in Florida insurance.

What's option 5??? Or have we switched to a non-linear numeric system??

So I'll add #5---Wait years and years after doing #6

We've been very happy with Allstate, and Castle Key for our home.
