It seems that the 29 year old mom had a loaded pistol in her purse. The child was sitting in the shopping cart, rummaged through mom's purse, found the pistol, and shot mom - killing her. This took place in a Walmart in Idaho.

Yep, the mom had a concealed carry permit.

Yep, those pistols really save lives, don't they?
The two year old did not have a permit to carry, sorry. No points.

So you don't want your kids protected?

By the way, look up "principle" vs. "principal".
While doing the research be sure to include the incidents of soldiers shooting soldiers or police shooting police.

Does it happen? Of course....ISOLATED INCIDENTS.....do not a case make!

If none of us ever left the house we will be much safer than the rest of you who venture into the unknown. And we would only be subject to all the things that could happen to us in the home. The operative word "could". Reality? Go out and enjoy life with the other risk takers who are facing the world.....and all that "could" happen out there.

Isolated incidents just do not form how we live our lives or affect the decisions we make. Worthy of note and be aware....of course.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say the pastor of a central Florida church shot and wounded an employee during a gunfight after the employee learned he was being fired.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that Living Water Fellowship Church Pastor Terry Howell had been meeting with maintenance worker Benjamin Parangan Tuesday to terminate Parangan's employment with the Kissimmee church.

Witnesses say Parangan pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots at Howell. He wasn't hurt but returned fire with his own weapon and hit Parangan.

Officials say Parangan was listed in stable condition at a hospital.

Deputies are investigating the shooting as a case of self-defense. Authorities say charges are pending against Parangan.

Earlier this month, Pastor James "Tripp" Battle was fatally shot at his Bradenton church.

And they don't reserve seats in his church either.
Why can't some of these guys target the Pat Robertson's of this world? Or any of the other hundreds of TV pastors who make a buck off religion but still practice the speech of hate.

Exactly right! School shootings are so isolated that they do not form the good basis for teachers or principals to carry pistols.

If even one incident is avoided or minimized, it IS worth it to me.

...and if even one incident is caused or heightened in some way by a teacher carrying a pistol - will THAT be worth it?

does that "in some way" logic apply to police? How about all the hunters with guns in the fields among us?

Yeah, I guess crimes always seem isolated to the person, or persons, it is not happening to. I'm sure if the parents of a dead child from a school shooting could have turned back time and had a school employee armed who could have possibly saved their child, they would have chosen that option.

I can't remember a night that I haven't turned on the local news and NOT heard of someone either being shot or killed right down the road from us in Orlando. As long as we all stay in our safe bubble called The Villlages, we can all possibly live in denial and not face the reality of the crime that surrounds us. If I leave the bubble, my carry firearm is like my American Express, I don't leave home without it!

They don't seem to be so isolated when it is in the interests of anti gun advocates to tout the frequency and ....the we gotta do something about all these gun attacks in schools.

Shoot the arrow into the bale of hay and then paint the bulls eye around the arrow!!! How can they lose?!

You also need to see the posts on Facebook "Guns Save Lives" maybe your views might temper a bit.

I am sure the widow and child of the "popcorn tosser" who was shot and killed by the retired police captain will agree with you.

I have an awful time understanding this kind of argument. It is a personal choice. The constitution allows us to carry firearms if we want.

You either think you need to, or you don't.

I don't need to. But I don't think the right needs to be taken away.

I no better understand a person selling unrealistic fear in a safe environment, than I understand changing the laws.

If Orlando comes close and encroaches on my way of life than I will change my views on owning and knowing how to use a gun.

I made it safely through 75 years with a little sense and a lot of a gift to read people.
