Call a local welding supply company (there are some) and see if they have a piece of #14 welder's glass.

I am concerned a lot of fake glasses will be sold and used. People will damage their retinas, some permanently. If you cannot obtain the welder's glass VT's pinhole camera box is the way to go.

I have observed how things are done in the "modern world" these days. I have no eclipse glasses so I plan to knock someone down and take them away from them.

JUST KIDDING.

Even if you got eclipse glasses they need to have ISO safety number. Amazon has recall on some should of got email from Amazon? make sure the glasses have safety checked number, only takes 15 to 20 seconds to cause severe damage when moon shadow moving across. Google if you want the full scoop.

How to protect your eyes during the eclipse if you don't have the proper glasses, DON'T LOOK UP! Pinhole viewer works very well.

I seem to remember when I was a child that our neighbor gave us old film negatives from back when you had film developed.

I could be mistaken, but I think that is what we used?

I also recall the developed fully exposed film, but I really do not remember the safety of using these. I do have welders helmet, with an adjustable filter, and I can use that, but my plan is to watch it on SCI-FI channel, they will have better viewing then I could ever get.

Scotch tape multiple old film negatives together. Just use them for a quick glance.
