Worry...........and pray. Harping won't help.

I am sure that they are firmly convinced that vaccinations trigger autism. Many very bright young people believe this.

Try to talk some sense into them, and then resort to begging.......but I guess ultimately I'd have to take a deep breath and live with their decision, hoping desperately that they don't someday regret it.

I agree the autism is caused by something since it is almost epidemic proportions but not caused by vaccines.. I pray it is not in the food supply but you have to wonder what is causing it.. Educate by research and I think parents will change their minds about vaccinating ...

Can a child attend school these days without vaccinations? It seems like I hear of some of the childhood diseases popping up here and there these days like measles I heard about recently.

There is something grandparents can do to help protect their unimmunized or inadequately immunized grandchildren... Get your own shots so you are not the one giving the preventable diseases to your family. This means

1. Yearly influenza
2. Once in a lifetime Adult Diphtheria/Pertussis/Tetanus. This is not the same as the tetanus shot you might get for an injury as that only contains one disease. If you don't tell your doctor you want this, you will not get it.
Updated Recommendations for Use of Tetanus Toxoid, Reduced Diphtheria Toxoid, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) Vaccine in Adults Aged 65 Years and Older — Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), 2012
3. Prevnar-13 This is a routine early childhood vaccine which reduces illness from 13 strains of streptococcus pneumonia (pneumonias, meningitis, ear infections and more). This vaccine is now recommended as a single dose for all adults 65+. There is an additional pneumococcal vaccine also recommended with 23 strains. Specific information is here:
Vaccines: VPD-VAC/Pneumo/In-Short
4. Varicella/Shingles vaccines If you have shingles you are capable of infecting non-immune persons with acute chicken pox.

There's really nothing you can do. The best you can do is hope the school requires immunization.

I'd accept their decision. You brought them up to be independent thinkers and to make good decisions.
I think that not vaccinating children is wrong, but that may be old-school thinking.
As Redwitch said, hopefully the school will require Immunization.
Perhaps in the future, your kids will be proven to be the smart ones.
