Default robot vacuum cleaners

My dog sheds and I need something to clean it up on my hardwood/low carpet floors.
I can get one on Amazon for 99.99 or 600.00?

Does anyone have any experience with these and would you be willing to please advise?
Thank you!

Make sure that the robot will go back to its base when power is running low. If not, you will be retrieving it from under sofas and tables! Also be sure that virtual walls are included (or available) so that you can vacuum only one room.

Ours was $350, It goes back to base when low. I can not program from my phone, but do not use have to use virtual walls as I can program to do certain rooms. I have vacuumed first then used the robot and it really does pick up more than I expected

I have a Roomba, lower-priced model. It is great for picking up hair and lint off the floor, mainly hard floors. It gets debris off the top of carpet but it isn't as thorough as a regular vacuum cleaner. It is very easy to empty out the dirt and clean the brush, however, a job I hate with the regular vacuum cleaner. It can get under chairs and beds. The downside is it has a mind of its own and goes where it wants to. Unless I corral it by shutting the door, I don't get good coverage in an "open" room, such as the living area of many of the houses. I do have two "virtual walls," electronic gadgets that block its egress, but they are not enough to keep it from escaping.

We have had Neato robots for years. We are on our third. They work great, especially on tile, hardwood, and laminate. We use it every other day. We like the Neato because it is the only brand (to my knowledge) that systematically looks at the rooms to be cleaned, breaks it into smaller sections, cleans the perimeter and then moves back and forth to clean every inch of the floor. The others just randomly move around the room over and over maybe cleaning everything, maybe not. If you have ever played the old TV video game -- PONG -- you will recall how the little hockey puck would bounce off the perimeter of the screen and change directions, well that is how most of the other robots move around your home, cleaning as they go.

We are on our 3rd Roomba. The first was 7 years ago. It was the 360 pet model...programmable and we loved it. I had a manincoon cat at the time and we literally wore it out in about 4 years. Then we bought a lower priced model, no frills, did not like that one and soon replaced it with a 900 series, programmable roomba. It also has an app that I can use to start it remotely, or keep up with how thoroughly it is cleaning. It picks up dog hair, grass, and dirt completely. I can’t say enough about how much we depend on our Roomba! Totally worth the price!

Our neighborhood pooled our resources and bought one. The downside is we have to leave our front and backdoor open but that's a small price to pay for such a convenience.

I think a couple of my neighbors did the same thing and thinking it was a rabid raccoon in my backyard...I shot it.

Now I have it hanging from a nail in the garage and every so often...it lights up, whirs, then sighs and turns off.

I can't imagine an Amazon drone dropping off a pair of Rockports on my front porch but that's on the horizon. A neighborhood vacuum cleaner seems more doable. Doesn't it?

Yes, a neighborhood vacuum cleaner...does sound doable.

Just my luck though, a Service Smart truck...would run it over.

We bought a Deebot N79 for $199 on Amazon. It seems to do everything the $400+ robot vacuums do. If you have a pet it will pick up an amazing amount of pet hair. Read the reviews before buying.

We had one of these years ago but it did not do a good job going from a smooth floor to an area rug. Do the new ones handle this better?

Si!

We had one many moons ago and it was a disappointment. It didn't suck.

My friend has a Roomba and likes it but says because it's round, it doesn't do the corners well.
