My wife turned to the land of Lauerites (CNN) for news on Ebola. De Blasio of new York admonished the nation and insisted that Ebola medical workers should be treated with respect, etc and so far I agree with him. Following his press conference the latest medical health nurse quarantined has raised Human Rights issue and threatened suit.

First we have been told forever by de blasio people to practice safe sex
so isn't quarantine playing safe sex (practices?
Secondly didn't the nurse volunteer?
Third doesn't she want to protect her family? others? Staying behind a glass enclosure is little compared to infecting love ones?
Fourth once she is cleared people will embrace her as a hero.
Fifth people forget that vietnam vets were treated horrible by these de blasio people simply because they chose to answer their countries call and here all that is being asked is to stay away from the population for 21 days.
Sixth how can you blame people for responding to their innate fight/flight response
Seventh 4 medical health workers have been contaminated at least three traveled because they didn't know it.
Eighth it will not be she who will be suing if she ends up negligently infecting people it will be the victims of her disregard

She volunteered for Doctors Without Borders. They are the entity responsible for her exit and re-entry from this country, and for making sure she has been properly checked and tested for Ebola before getting onto an intercontinental and multinational itinerary.

Their financial statements linked show Net Assets of $167,000,000 as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Surely they have funds to test these workers twice and 72 hours apart, while "self quarantining" them in decent vacation lodging somewhere in one of these 3 African countries, which I've always heard are beautiful places.

After working on the front lines for free, can't they have a quiet vacation there for 21 days, paid by donations to this massive foundation? The big donors like Zuckerman and Gates et al would probably contribute to it if asked.

And why can't the host country provide them with some decent R&R accommodations while on self quarantine, as a way of saying THANK YOU for their courageous and selfless service to the nation?

But threatening federal discrimination lawsuits seems to get more press, book sales, talk show appearances, headlines on HuffPo and Drudge etc.

I have been an R.N. for 37 years and am shocked by this nurse's rebellion against having to be quarantined. You would think her first hand experience seeing the devastation of this disease through providing direct care to dying ebola patients would make her an outspoken advocate for quarantine.

Or perhaps she believes since she has seen and treated this devastating disease she is mature enough to know how to self quarantine and immediately seek treatment if necessary. Why was Dr. Spenser's fiancé allowed to return to their Harlem apartment when she was obviously exposed to the disease?

Hmmnnn, I wonder if it is a coincidence that because Obama is objecting to the quaratine orders put in place by NY and NJ....the media picks up the party line and blows a wayward nurses moaning out of proportion.

We should all become increasingly concerned that these types of isolated non conforming individuals get the glorification of such press coverage.

Like it or not she has an unpleasnt time to endure for her exposure to a highly contagious killer disease. Like the many others who have been confined to date date, she should suck it up and serve the time.

This is what happens when there is a political contamination of a serious issue.

I really do understand how Kaci Hickox must feel but as a nurse with first hand knowledge of this devastating and deadly disease she should consider how a neophyte public has been brow beat to believe that they are acting hysterically . However, WHO, CDC Department of Health and Services assured the public that the chances of an Ebola case reaching the US was remote claiming airport checkers would catch anyone sick trying to enter. They said hospitals were prepared for such cases and that doctors and nurses would be protected. They also said that self-quarantine would would protect new cases. How's that working out?

The last count is that 250 health care workers have been infected and 44 died so far.....and these are people getting the best of the best treatment money and technology can buy and 4 medical workers returning to the US have been infected and one civilian died
