Default Someone lost their cellphone today

At the golf-cart gate off Paradise that leads to Wawa and BJ's (and beyond).

I don't have it, but the guy who picked it up was in the golf cart ahead of mine. He stopped me inside the gate and asked me if I knew anything about cell phones. I took a look, was able to narrow it down to a "type" but it was secured with a fingerprint check or PIN.

I told the guy he should post on ToTV and he said he was familiar with the website, but obviously - he didn't post here. Happened this afternoon, maybe 3-ish.

Hopefully you'll get your phone back. It looked like a newer model.

I'm not describing the phone here in this post on purpose. Just in case the guy ends up posting afterall and it's "your" phone, you won't want everyone and their brother trying to claim it.

If it was an iphone then they might have set up the medical id information to include a name and emergency contact number. You don't have the phone but the guy who has it might see this and might be able to find the owner through that info.

Too bad ya didn't tell him to take it to the Villages Lost & Found - ya know in case the owner doesn't read TOTV!

You can put a " if found" phone number on the lock screen just for this purpose.

Absolutely, I have both an if found phone number and an email address displayed on the lock screen.

Next time it’s best to bring lost items that are found to one of the regional recreation centers that provide lost and found services. In this case La Hacienda would be the closest. I know Laurel Manor and Everglades also offer this service, not sure about the other regional recreation centers?

I keep an address label on the back of my cell phone and iPad in hopes of a speedy return. Often at the airport you hear over the loud speaker that someone left their cell or iPad near the conveyor belt. If you at least had your name on a small sticker on the back of it they could page your name to come get it. Simple solution.

It was someone LEAVING the Villages who found it. If I was the one who found it, I would've brought it to Paradise Rec center. But I wasn't the one who found it, I'm not the one who has it in their possession.

This thread was just an FYI in case any of you lost your cell phone at the time and near the place mentioned. You might want to call that phone, and maybe the guy who found it will answer and help you get the phone back.

For all I know, the guy who found the phone was going home to Stonecrest (many of them have gate passes, even though they're not supposed to).

For all I know, the person who lost the phone was heading back to Stonecrest, where they live.

I have no further information - if I did, I would've mentioned that I had more info.

Always take a lost phone to the police station - never to TV lost and found.

Sounds like harboring animosity towards people who live in SC...

And those who live in Stonecrest are free to travel any of those roads, paths and businesses you mention, and don't have to have a villages gate pass, just an FYI. The person who dropped it may have lived in Stonecrest or Spruce Creek as well. Don't just assume, if it was on the outside of gate. And another news flash you don't have to live in TV to be on TOTV...wink wink..

Is there some part of "maybe the guy will help you get it back" and "maybe the person who lost it lives in Stonecrest" that you didn't understand?

Sounds like you have a beef against Villagers who are trying to help someone who lost their phone. And yes, you do need a Villages gate pass to get from Paradise to the back road of the medical center and Wawa's/Bj's/Walmart by golf cart.

The gate is Villages Property, as is the path from the gate itself, to Paradise. If you have a gate pass to that gate and you don't live in the Villages then you are using either a stolen or sold gate pass, both of which are against Villages rules.

No, you don't need a pass to drive from Spruce Creek or Stonecrest to the villages gate, you need it to enter GC gate, only clarifying your statement re; "Stonecrest" and if anyone wants, and that means anyone, they just enter via car, the main gate, by pushing the red buttons...Not a problem..I didn't say anything negative about TV, anywhere in my comments, but I believe you made comments assuming Stonecrest residents "stole or have a sold gate pass" I simply stated facts. And again assuming a Stonecrest resident is using a "stolen or sold gate pass" is how they enter, there is borrowed or someone just letting you in, or a villager riding with you..wink wink..
