Smile Looking for a Job?

Can you imagine this job? Want to see what it is like to climb the Sears Tower?
My head is still spinning.
Just wait for the cartoon intro to finish, then hold on to your seat.

My former hubby was a Chicago Local#1 Ironworker who helped to build the Sears Tower along with other remarkable sites.
Those antennas were hand placed by two seasoned ironworker brothers, John and Jim Rukavina. I am certain they are retired now, but highly regarded still. This was their specialty, and were known across the country the best of the best." They installed what you see being climbed upon in the video.

They were able to be taken part of the way up during construction, but then had to climb the rest in the open air, and install everything on top while the building was swaying in the wind.
All these years later, and I am still in respectful awe.

Uptown Girl -

I am with you - in total awe - it must take a very special person with literally nerves of steel.
I can't even imagine being a spouse.
Thank you.

I'm not sure which video was more unnerving to watch - this video, or one posted on here a while back about the 'scariest footpath in the world' (if you missed it, you probably can find that earlier post under the search link, using 'footpath'.

This really makes you stop and think about, and have respect for, what's in a day's work for some people (and I thought I had some demanding days!??? Not hardly, in comparison!!!) What a breathtaking view to enjoy while working!!

About one month ago we were forced to attend a 40 hour class on recognition of Hazards . Other than being bored to death we were shown some very graphic videos of people being hurt in live videos. How on earth could someone climb these towers let alone build these things ? They kept stressing to wear a safety harness whenever working on anything with more than a 40 inch drop. The video and the people are amazing for sure.
