Default Taking the Lead frpm Gracie's Girl-Boy Post

For the record, this guy appreciated the resurrection of that 2010 post. It allows a lot of newbies to catch up and/or to make connections to TOTV faster.

What I have found more interesting is the wide-ranging choices of avatars, photos, and screen names.

Why does Angie relate to Betty Boop, and why has she prefer the current avatar after having posted with so many other versions.

And why does Gracie make the occasional change, and why does the photo she select have special meaning?

I don't know if I'm more intrigued or respectfully scared by figmo's name, choice of avatar, or the organizations listed in the salutation.

But, those who are willing to share would be taking Gracie's initial post to another level of harmless fun and interest.

PS: yeah, ok. So I have neither an intriguing avatar or interesting screen name. Maybe I'll be inspired.....

RE: Figmo....You are afraid of our cattle dog, Matilda? Figmo served his country for over 20 years and you are scared of him? He served as a deputy for many years in Idaho. Law enforcement officers scare you? He is an award winning competitive shooter, range officer, safety officer and has volunteered his time to present safety and personal safety classes for the staff at the hospital after the event in the parking lot. Yes, I guess he is someone who you should be afraid of.....

Default Sure... This could be fun!!!!

I got on Facebook to communicate with my kids who were living away from home. I put my picture on my profile and started getting responses from, men seeking money, "I can love you like no other man can"! Clearly they had never met my husband. These guys are looking for middle aged women who they think might hand over their money! Since my husband and I don't have the same name, they assumed I was single. They also assume I have money.

Are you still with me this far??? good!

So.... I looked for and avitar that would communicate what I was feeling for that day! I found the Boop seemed to have the most expressive and it wasn't taken by any of my friends. It worked... The men stopped trying to get my money... And... I started having fun with it using is for my expressions for the day!

Still here??? Great!!! Wow...

Now... I use that avitar for EVERY social site I'm on, well, except for Linkedin (should change it right now... BRB)

OK, I'm back!

I use the one I use here because it depicts the Red Hat Club for ladies over 50 years old.

Get it??? TOTV... over 55 community??? Red Hat Club??? Nevermind.....

The problem is, everyone thinks I have the Boop all over my house and so when they want to buy me something they buy me, Betty Boop purses, towels, PJ's, Beach Bag, etc. People are quite surprised to see that I have NOTHING Boop in my home! Well, now I have purses, Towels, PJ's, Beach Bags, etc.

Are you still with me??? You know there's no prize for reading this whole post... Right?

My current avatar picture is of me in my thirties and our two daughters. I am the blond at the bottom of the picture and Helene is to the right and Gretchen is at the top and the reason is that I ran across the picture and it brought back happy memories.

ladydoc: I assure you and all other totv members that I intended no slight or disrespect to figmo but that apparently didn't convey properly. So I offer you and all others an unconditional apology for an unintentional disrespect.

For the record, I have full respect for all of those in the law enforcement profession, local, state, federal, and military, beginning with corrections and including the police chief (and friend) at the agency at which I work.

My uncle was a LEO for 30+ yrs in SoCal. I am cognizant of and very appreciative that, at great personal risk, a LEO will charge after a bad guy to
protect my family and me. A review of my previous posts would confirm my admiration for a LEO. I consider myself privileged to have been in a position once to protect a LEO who was fighting with a bad guy in the middle of a 6-lane
highway (traffic stop gone bad) by stopping traffic so the officer could subdue the suspect.

I am not afraid of figmo or any LEO. I am grateful for their service, and for choosing such a noble- yet often criticized
and frequently thankless-profession.

BTW: We also had a cattle dog (mixed with some terrier) whom we named Matilda, which we thought was a perfect name, given her Aussie heritage. She was a rescue pet. She passed unexpectedly last March, after 14 yrs as our furry daughter

And it is a very nice photo! I wish I had more photos taken with my mom. She was, and I am not find of having our photos taken.

I kno that you folks know what you are talking about but I am lost. Is this post about chosing Avatars or dogs? By the way howdo you secure an avatar to your posts???

Go to User CP (Control Panel), Settings and Options, Edit Avatar. I can't remember how I chose the dolphin photo, but I know it was from the web. I'm not sure how you load a personal photo as an avatar, but I'm sure some tech savvy wise person will explain how to do that.

I was able to stay with the whole post! And a fascinating one it was!
I have a friend here in the Red Hat Club, so understand that completely.

This is a most confusing thread.
My first question is why are you in Chicago and Oren is Channahon? Does that mean y'all have 2 houses to sell before moving to TV?

Next is why hasn't the OP (gmcneil) told us whether they are boy or girl as stated in the title? The whole thread is based on answering questions completely and correctly, since inquiring minds want to know! Does the 'G' stand for Gary or Gretchen?

Gracies' thread sure helped clear up some things. Girl Howdy!

I'm sure I'll have more questions as the comments fill up these pages!

CaptJohn: I responded to Gracie's initial post in the first line of my post ,
"...this guy..."

rubicon: the main topic of my post was selections of avatars and screen names I intended my post to serve as a supplement to Gracie's. I am often intrigued by the choices of avatars and screen names. I thought it would be interesting if members shared the reasons of why/how they made the selection that they did. As with your screen name, I have been curious as to what significance or meaning that a point of no return holds for you (unless we are referring to Kansas' first album.)

Oren: you are truly a gutsy man...either that or based on angie's reference to your...um...skills, you are able get away with comments that the rest of us mere mortal husbands could not
