I feel sorry for the Tiger Woods family, especially Elin and the children.

In my humble opinion, celebrities have transcended the category of "normal young people" by choice. It is predictable human nature that fans will be fascinated with the details of scandals or happy stories.

Celebrities need to be squeeky clean if they going to "put themselves out there" and make millions of dollars from publicity and endorsements.

I think it is appropriate the advertizing commumity has all but pulled the plug.
 

Some will drop him. It doesn't matter how good a golfer he is...he is a lecherous, married whore monger and that is not what the public or his sponsers had or has in mind.

If he does come back to play, the announcers will have to clarify their comparisons of him to the previous greats who were honorable family men and good role models......ah as in golf ability only. He is in no way in the same category as Palmer, Nicholson, et al...

Poor kids had to deal with what comes with being in a public figure, weathy environment with a father to be proud of....now their cross has become heavier as they have to deal with the family destruction his moral stupidity has brought down on them.

On the positive side :), he now qualifies to be a politician:clap2:

I've resisted jumping in. My first instinct was to think that this is none of my business. After all, Tiger is not someone we elected. He didn’t ask to be our hero or our spiritual guide. He earned our awe and admiration by being the best golfer—maybe ever. Have we a right to expect more?

In this light, and in light of my own hero-worship of him, I wanted to see this as a private matter. Yet it doesn’t seem that simple. If the consequences of his actions affected only him and his wife, I'd be sad and sorry— and silent on the subject. Like it or not though, he and his family are not the only potential wounded.

Will the game of golf be hurt? True, golf greatly benefited from his talent and image, but that doesn’t change the fact that it might suffer from his fall from grace. Will his foundation be hurt? True, no one would ever have benefited from his foundation had he not earned the money and fame to create it. But that doesn’t change the fact that a consequence of his alleged “indiscretions” might be diminished contributions. Will cynicism increase, public giving to causes in general decrease, the quest for heroes come to be seen as a dim-witted and outdated endeavor?

Besides, at least some part of his affect on the public good came not only from his talent but also from his image—an image that was carefully crafted by him and his sponsors to make millions. In working to build that image, sell us products, create his foundation, he did ask to be our guide; he did ask to be our hero. In that sense, he cheated on us too.

No, he didn’t owe us a boost in professional golf, an increase in the number of young people taking up the honorable sport, a foundation designed in part to “build character,” or any of the other benefits we undeservedly derived from his talent, drive, ambition and ability. But he gave us those things; and some of the public good he did do could suffer. That would be a shame.

If a measure of a man is how he deals with his mistakes, I hope he will come to see the ways in which this is more than just a private matter. I hope he will work to fix his family and to minimize potential public consequences. I hope he’ll be a hero. Not because he has to, but because he can.

I have agreed with everything you have posted until you comment about Palmer.

If you check the stories about Palmer you will find out about his checkered past.

It seems we're quick to assume ALL these women are telling the truth and that Tiger was hiding something.
I don't doubt he had an affair. But are we all ready to believe he had 9 in 2 years? And while yes, he is guilty in every case that is REAL, but let us remember, these women knew who he was and that he was married and that he had children. I think they were after more than his 'charm'.

A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular Home Depot customers. This one caught me by surprise.

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works:

Two seriously good-looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look.

When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to McDonalds. You agree and they get into the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen May 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th & 29th. Also June 1st & 4th, Twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th & 30th, three times last Monday and very likely again this upcoming weekend. So tell your friends to be careful.

P.S. Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for 2.99 each. I found cheaper ones for $1.99 at K-Mart and bought them out. Also, you never will get to eat at McDonalds. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth to Home Depot.

To the best of your knowledge that is. Let's remember that two weeks ago you would have said the same about Tiger.

constitute a "slip" I think not. Does flying his play toys to Australia and put up in fancy digs constitute a slip?
Does running around while your wife is pregnant with multiple partners = a "slip"?

Is it OK to curse and be un-gentlemanly on the course because one can afford the fines?

When it comes to character is he the guy you want tour children to emulate?

Anybody with a half a brain would know that eventually one will get caught. But I guess that is like being able to afford to pay the fines on the course. So he can afford to pay the fines dealt in life when one does something stupid.

Sorta smells and sounds like as long as one can afford it they can be above the law....I know he didn't do anything illegal....above the laws of life? decency?

The permissive pacifist society is way too forgiving.

How about a simple test of right or wrong? He is completely wrong.

He is kicking sand in the face of a moral society. And should be made a spectacle of to show it does not pay. But it won't happen.....fickle and short memory....the traits of today!!
