Question Time to Wake Up

It is time we really thought of what is going on. We have a group that signs billion year contracts to an organization and believe the founder fiction writer is a person to follow, then we have the group that believes pot is the answer, then a group that followed their leader and took poison and committed suicide, then a group that wants to give up cars, planes, etc etc. This year we had the highest rate of deaths from alcholol. drugs and suicide in history.
Could go on and on but that is just repeating the outrages things going on. Any ideas?

This has been going on since the beginning of time, look back at the Roman Empire, the Crusades, the Nazis etc, could go on and on.

Nice job of listing the minority events and low percentage incidents.

How about we start a list of what the other 98% of the population is doing right and enjoying?????

It's a sad day when stickers and lawn ornaments can create such an uproar.

My solution is foolproof. I don't watch the news or read the paper.

It might help if people started learning how to think for themselves rather than following a leader. Fortunately, I think the majority of people do exactly that but there’s not much we can do about those who prefer to blindly follow. Of course, education helps.

So is an unending thirst for facts...and the truth.

'Confirmation bias,' and an unwillingness to do even a modicum of research...is at the root of so many of our problems

I find that more and more, when I watch a news story, asking myself, "who cares"?

Well, I care and I care a lot.

I sympathize for those who have given up a thirst to know truth, who will follow the loudest voice, whether lying or not.

Not sure exactly how to catorgize someone who doesnt care.

I care and if you do not, something has gone numb.

Search for truth is never ending, and it makes life.

I agree that search for truth is never ending. But when I get to the age that the truth causes me more unhappiness than not knowing about it I think I'd lean toward being blissfully ignorant.

I'm working my butt off to prepare for retirement. I want that retirement to be happy. If ignoring the truth that I can't control eliminates some unhappiness I think I will take that path.

At some point I can see myself not caring just for the simple fact that NOTHING I can do will change the outcome.

I admire your tenaciousness. You obviously care about a lot of things. And hopefully that makes you happy.
