Default Sun Pass vs EPass

Is there any difference between the two ? Seems like I heard that one sticks to the windshield and is non removeable and the other can be moved from car to car? Is there any preference? What do you use? Thanks

Sunpass is for Florida while ezpass is for the northeast and midwest. I have both. I don't see any problem with moving them from car to car.

Sun Pass and E Pass are the same and can be used on all toll roade in FL. There are 2 versions, one is permenantly afffixed to your windshild and the other is removeable and can be moved from car to car. See step 2 on this page for costs. http://www.wikihow.com/Buy-a-Florida-Sunpass We use the sticker type Sun pass.

EZ Pass is for up north.

We have only one car so we use the Sunpass (sticker); once it's on your windshield you can forget about it; and you can set your sunpass or epass account online to automatically add money to it from your bank account when its balance gets low.

Unless you have two cars, or might use a rental while in Fl or travel with a friend/use their car I would just get the sticker. It's one less thing that could get left at home or in the garage or get lost.

Note that the one that sticks to the windshield cannot be used on motorcycle windshields. Something about the design prevents proper signaling in that environment.

That's correct. But I think they meant EPass which is the 'other' Florida system. Yes one transponder works for both in FLA. I have the transportable one right now as I use it in my rental cars while I snowflake.

I bought the Sunpass $5.00 sticker that gets replenished automatically. Once you start an account they credit you the $5.00.....so the smaller sticker one is free.

The bigger one that you can move from car to car costs like $24.00, and they DO NOT credit you anything for it. SO........it seemed to me the $5.00 one is the better deal.

Some folks say, "but what if you sell the car?" So what? They credited it to you, so it WAS free...so you lose nothing.

The NY EZ-pass is different, and does nothing in Florida. We have both on our car. EZ-Pass gives you the transponders.....I actually have 4 of them. When we move to Florida for good I'll cancel my EZ pass account and turn all 4 of them in for good....

EZ Pass-NY can be used in Dulles Toll Road in VA as well as in Nags Head, NC. I heard somewhere that eventually EZ Pass can be used up and down the East Coast or am I dreaming?

With E-Zpass being mentioned in this thread, here are a few helpful links about it:

http://www.ezpass.com/static/info/facilities.shtml

http://www.e-zpassny.com/en/signup/facility.shtml

It was stated in a previous post that you can switch e-zpass between or to another vehicle or something like that. I don't think that's the case as the NYS e-zpass terms and conditions state the following and I would imagine that it's probably the same or similar in other states that participate in the program:

"You may use the Tag on the vehicle(s) specifically listed on your Application."

That may be for the EZ pass but I do know you can move the Sunpass and E-Pass to any vehicle you'd like. If you want you can update your tags (I do it for the rental cars since they obviously change every time) using the on-line site.

Sun pass balances can be transferred to another sticker account if you have to replace your window sticker for whatever reason. No loss of money.

I went into my NY E-Zpass account and apparently you can also use the pass on any vehicle you have registered with them. I guess that means that you can use it on rental vehicles so long as you go online and add that vehicles description to the list of vehicles covered by the e-zpass account! Sorry for the misleading information!
