I was thinking about the horrible scenes from the opening twenty minutes of Saving Private Ryan as I viewed this as well as movies like Schindler's List about why so many men and women had to die in this and other battles to stop fascist powers.

My Cousin Frank Mindo from Orange New Jersey was with the 101 Airborne, he jumped in Normandy, and was one of the "Battling Basterds of Bastone", survived several missions too. I remember D-Day, and never to forget.
