Question Allergies

The Dr's on a medical discussion today on TV, (that's television not TOTV)
said allergies were at an all time high because of the warm weather. In fact they mentioned that in Atlanta the allegeries were 55% higher than the
record for Atlanta. I know it has hit me in TV (that is now The Villages), and I finally went to a Drug Store to get some med if I needed them. Has anyone else been having this problem and how severe has it been?

The air flow through my nose seems to be more restricted than normal, but that's not a real issue for me. My wife is more affected though than I am. However, the allergies may be at an all time high at this point because the pollens are being released earlier than normal rather than later. This should mean that its affects should also diminish sooner than normal, making the point in the end somewhat moot. Overall, it boils down to a factor of timing, not an overall increase in allergy experiences.

just google back in time and I am sure you will find that at some other time in the past there were similar warm spells across the country.

As far as the pollen setting records...I wonder if it is more accurate to have said the pollen is setting records for the time of year....and I suspect no worse than when it comes normally....just earlier.....not any worse!

I think one of the contributing factors is not only have we had a mild winter but the sudden sustained high temperatures brought everything out not only quicker but at the same time. It hasn't gotten warm for a day or two and dropped. It has been constant and perhaps more species are blooming simultaneously.

Default Wow

[QUOTE=skyguy79;471326] It's called El Niño and this element also has positive effects or benefits to us here in Florida.

Wow Sky! Was I wrong! I though El Nino was a local special on the menu.

Last spring and this spring I have had really bad reactions to pollens. I haven't had anything close to it since I was MUCH younger. There are different pollens here than in Ohio. A lot of folks react to the pollen from the live oak tree. If you wipe off surfaces from your lanai the cloth is covered with a dark yellowish green "dirt". Coupled with the construction dust that is air born, it really makes it bad for people who have allergies.

Helene has them worse than me, and Sweetie not at all. Funny how people do or don't react to the stuff.

Neighbors were talking about it last night and said good luck with getting am appointment with allergists right now. They can see you in six to eight weeks.

I've had a lot of allergies in Jan/Feb, very unexpected. I hear people complaining about the dust from all the new construction.

However on a positive note, our Magnolia tree is blooming ... Gorgeous.
