Going home after finding out I had cancer, stopped to pick up a couple things. At checkout, the bored and tired employee said, "Have a blest day", with the same enthusiasm that you would feel mentioning that you have a flat tire. She didn't mean it. It was what she was told to say. And I sure didn't feel "BLEST" that day. Quite the contrary.

Default We don't actually die.

If you believe in the after life, we don't actually die. We enter or transition into another state of being.

That would be nice. Do we get a body to go with it or are we just consciousness floating in space ?

Yes. Like a sugar crystal dissolving in a cup of tea. Dispersed among the stars. Each atomic particle, each bit of energy blending with the whole of the universe.

An interesting point, since you used the quote in reference to the "WORD" used in the Bible. Many Christians believe that the "WORD" is also synonymous and referencing the SON of GOD in spirit form. So, Jesus had many labels, one of them being the "WORD."

At this point in our lives, sadly most of us have had our own crisis or family crisis with which to deal at one time or another.

That “bored, tired”, (in your opinion), person may have been dealing with an even larger crisis than yours. Extra kindness from your side of the register may have made a difference for her and you may be surprised what it can do for you. Unless someone is being intentional cruel, I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. We can’t change everyone in the world.

It sounds like you assume there was an imaginary "Nothingness" and then a "Beginning" somehow occurred and "One" appeared via magic when there was not a "One" to perform the magic.

LOL! Especially because it's forced and insincere. It's like a mocking lie

I follow what you are saying, I think … and I accept your understanding, it is your truth. Nice discussion.

A Poem to Live By

“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart.
Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours.
Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people.
Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.
Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place.
Show respect to all people and grovel to none.
When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself.
Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

– Tecumseh, Native American warrior and leader of the Shawnee

He was one wise Indian, it appears.
