Default What do you think of the recent decision?

I noticed the recent decision by (name) to change the nature of our relationship with (country) and was curious to know what people might think about it? Seems like a pretty big deal to me. Was the decision made by (name) really wise? Do you think the reactions by (name) or (name) were really informative or simply hurtful? I think this decision will have long lasting impacts on our country and have other ramifications, largely unforeseen apparently, but I think fully predictable, on our citizens travelling overseas.

To avoid getting this thread closed, and to avoid invoking the P-word, I have omitted the names as shown. While this may make it somewhat harder to discuss, as least it will be compliant.

Thought this was covered yesterday. Not sure how not naming names changes things from political to non-political.

Some people will try anything to make a political point. Give it a break!

I'm happy for all the people especially those who will be able to see their families. I'm hopeful that this can be the start of something better. I don't think it's up to us to dictate how they govern and we do business with other countries who govern similarly. We ended the cold war, it's time to let go of the past and look to the future.

Eventually we could all be ruled by artificial intelligence. Maybe then we can live in peace. Of course if the women take over we might achieve it sooner. Hey I can dream.

Have you seen yesterday's thread on this topic?

Your thoughts on the Presidents actions today on Cuban embargo?

for those of you so profoundy expert in spotting a "political point" being made....maybe you could share with us what exactly it is that qualifies for a political point?

It is a rhetorical question to make my point.

The interpretation of what make a political point or not is as subjective as whether how much perfume is offensive or not. Or the average size of the clouds that have passed by in the last 47 minutes.

Their is some discourse on the veiled subject that are of interest to some of us.

For example if I asked a question.....can I now buy Cuban cigars legally?
Please tell me whether this is political or not. And the biggie....WHY?

In light of this country's business with China and Vietnam, it is consistent.

A very disturbing unilateral and unconstitutional action by the current President. There is still a law called Helms-Burton (1996) that has been trampled. That's what is bothersome.
