Home | THE DUST BOWL

Just watched Ken Burns’ “The Dust Bowl” and can’t help thinking what inner strength and fortitude those people had.

They didn’t have the luxury of worrying about inconsequential things that we folks today worry about........

Their faces were etched with their hardships..........this is the stuff America was built upon.

Even though we’ve seen it before, it was worth seeing again..........for us anyway. Anyone else out there view it?

What beautiful wrinkled faces on the families that made it to California to feel the coolness of the tall trees and water.

Can anyone trace their own personal family history back to those migrants to California ......(due to the dust bowl years?)

Don't have family history to contribute, just wanted to add that every Ken Burns project is top shelf in my opinion.

my dad was to poor to leave oklahoma during the dust bowl so we stayed. i grew up in cental Okla and it is a land of beauty now also very properous compared to many other states today. Oklahoma University helped Oklahoma recover by building the OU Sooners into one of the best football programs and many rank it as the best of the modern era.
