Default the new Trader Joe's

Just got back from the new Trader Joe's in Gainesville. It's a very nice one, bigger than the ones in Brooklyn or Larchmont, more like CA. Spent $70 on treats none of which I NEEDED but hey. It was fun. one hour to drive there, wish it was closer.

Not familiar with Trader Joe since they were not a midwest store. However, I'm curious, what is the attraction? Are they like Fresh Market? I've seen so many comments about this store and am curious.

I didn't check to see if you posted where in the midwest you're from. Trader Joes is in Minnesota and Wisconsin for sure. I think they do a market research search before they'll put in a store. Wish they'd do one here!!!

We have a few in the metro Detroit area. The closest is 15 miles away. Not bad. Royal Oak, Grosse Pointe, Northville, Rochester Hills,Farmington Hills and Ann Arbor. I usually buy their wild Alaska salmon, fat-free Balsamic Vinaigrette salad dressing and stock up on the dark chocolate. They usually have a coffee and entree to sample. Fresh Market is more upscale. Many products are organic and without pesticides.

Interesting combination.

Thank you for making the sacrifice and driving up. One of these days we may take a ride to check out the store!

Heck, the treats were just calling your name and you had to buy them....

Simply put, Trader Joe’s is a gourmet food shop that sells at affordable prices. Equally important is that anything that carries their brand name is GMO free. (If people were more aware how many processed foods are genetically modified—and if you’re not familiar with this, it would be worth your while to Google the studies on this subject—more people would make the one-hour trip and/or shop more carefully locally.)

We have not yet been to the new store but are delighted at its closeness—only an hour away. The last time we needed a Trader Joe’s fix, the nearest to drive to was in Atlanta—many hours away…. We bring their foods with us when we’re returning from up north too. Great stuff!

The Fresh Market is also a gourmet food shop but with prices that are less affordable. Also great stuff!

I went up yesterday. First stop Gainesville Mall and Trader Joes on the way back home. Great as always and I got so many of my favorites. Well worth the hour drive.

I am so so thankful that you posted this. I just ran out of trader joe's green tea and maple syrup. Gainesville will be a fun day trip.
No longer will i have to ask my daughter to bring trader joe's supplies when she visits from d.c.
Not only do they have non gmo products but a plethora of foods made from good ingredients (not a paragraph long) and organic foods as well, all at affordable prices.
Hurrah.

Don't forget 2 buck chuck wines which are exclusive of Trader Joe's and quite drinkable. There is another Santa Anna from Chile red which is a bit pricier at around $6.
