What is your day trip that you enjoy doing outside villages ? to eat some special place? any special beach you enjoy going to? We don't mind going to Tampa or Orlando to the beach for the Gulf or the Oceanside just looking for some neat things to do. Thanks in advance

I love going to SeaWorld. Also Clearwater Marine Aquarium, home of Winter, rescued dolphin and star of the movie that came out last year, A Dolphin's Tale.

Go to Homosassa Springs State Park by Crystal River. It is about an hour drive from The Villages. There is a zoo of Florida resident animals including a hippo. You will have to go there to get the story of how that is a Florida native animal. There are also rehabbed manatees in Crystal River headwaters and wild ones come up to the gate blocking the park from the river.

AAA discount is honored. Disabled veterans with proof get in free for life in all Florida state parks.

We also like to take a day trip to Clearwater Beach to the beach at Passa-Grill. Very nice.

Honeymoon Island State Park on the Gulf is not far from Tarpon Springs. Nice beach at Honeymoon Island and interesting town of Tarpon Springs.

I like a short afternoon trip to Mt. Dora and lunch at Goblins Market. I also enjoy going to Winter Park, very artsy fartsy, but very high end. Great restaurants and dog friendly.
And a definite two thumbs up for Clearwater Beach. The best!

I second Homosassa Springs State Park -- especially if you have kids with you. Love the manatees.

If you go to Homosassa Springs State Park, be sure to visit Lu, the hippo, for feeding time .

Mom and I go to our condo on St. Augustine beach! That is, if it is not rented! Its the best of two worlds: the beach and the Old City.

We enjoyed horseback riding in the Ocala National Forest, and we also enjoyed Captain Mike's Lazy River Cruise with dinner at Stumpknockers afterward.
