I'm not sure if your talking horse racing? or something other kind.

If it's horse racing, there's really VERY LITTLE LIVE RACING.

Mostly OTB.

And it's not exactly the Taj Mahal either.

Two large rooms with betting windows, machines & TV's. They also have a smoking room where you don't even need a cigarette.

The snack bar .... well let me put it this way... our snack bars at the ball fields (Saddlebrook & Buffalo Glen) are QUITE a bit better.

I'm talking about dirt track car racing. The track in Ocala has events in about 6 or 7 different classes. Looks like a fun time.

Thumbs up Wow!! This is great news!!!

I am so glad this question was raised...thanks!!! My son races dirt bikes here in NY, 4 wheelers and snowmobiles . Altho I worry terribly , it is alot of fun! I was researching this the other day and seems like there is alot of that down there . He wont be moving down with me, but this is great news as a way to coax him to visit me alot! . I cant wait to tell him!

We are also huge NASCAR fans . Any others out there in TOTV Land? Hope so...that would be fun!

Check out The Villages Racing Fan Club http://www.villagesracingclub.com
They meet monthly and also organize trips to a wide variety of races.

When we were in TV for a Livestyle Preview, I attended the March meeting. Lots of friendly racing fans. When I sat at one of the tables, I introduced myself and who is one of the people at the table? -- Randy LaJoie's father. He lives in TV.

I read in the Daily Sun that Buzzy Reutimann was the guest speaker at the May meeting.

Funny story... this is how the meeting began.

The president led the group in saying The Pledge of Allegiance and singing The National Anthem. Then the president handed the microphone to one of the members in the audience, who loudly exclaimed, "Gentlemen, start your engines."

If you're a car racing fan you might check out the Don Garlitz Museum about 20 minutes NW of TV:

Wow this is great news! Buzzy Reutimann was just there and his son wins last week?! So cool! Its probably a good thing I wasnt there lol, I would have been on my hands and knees begging him for a way to meet my Mikey (Waltrip) .
And Randy LaJoie's father lives in TV?? He must be a proud man, even his grandsons are starting into racing. Thanks for the link, I dont have dsl so it takes awhile, but it will eventually get there lol.
This is great news that there is a club in TV...are women allowed lol?
Wow imagine if Buzzy could get David and/or Mikey to visit one of the meetings?? I always told my friends if I ever met Mikey in person I would need duct tape for my mouth and smelling salts cause I would definitely faint lol .
Okie now you all know I am nuts thanks for the info!!

Wink There is a method to my maddness hehe....

I just had a brainstorm and hoping someone might help me with some info. My son will be be moving me to TV on 10/1 and hopefully staying for about a week. During that time, I am trying to come up with a few tricks up my sleeve so that he will love Florida and eventually move closer to me .
He races dirt bikes and 4 wheelers, are there any tracks nearby that we could visit? He is 32 and loves everything that has to do with any kind of racing etc. Any ideas of places we could go to with racing involved, or anything else you can think of that would entice him to move down sure will be appreciated!
Hmmm....the beach might be a good idea too hehe, since he is still single...alittle sight seeing (aka girl watching hehe) might not hurt either!
Luckily for me he doesnt read my posts...or I would be in deep twouble! .

Not sure how long he will be at TV but he may want to look at what is called the Street World Nationals at Orlando Speedworld. This is a drag race that is held Oct 30 to Nov 1. The track is located on Rt 50 (E. Colonial Dr.) just ouside the city limits of Orlando. They also have a 3/8 mile asphalt oval track for stock car racing. The stock car season will be starting on Oct. 1.
