I prefer to think that having a Yankee Doodle/Devil Dog/Yodel breakfast provides immunity. |

It just shows that the risk is there even if one supposedly has good genes. |

Frosty Malts at the local drug store cost a dime and added bag of salted peanuts for 5 cents more.

Never thought I'd say it but I wanna be a kid growing up in America. Your treats really sound yummy and fun to eat. Color me green.
Was here as a teen and then it was Hostess cup cakes, potato chips and, of course, Coke (never, ever Pepsi). |
I loved the 7-up candy bar but it was 10 cents and most of the time I only had a nickel to spend on candy.

Green 2 cent suckers, black licorice bAbies,
|
I'm going off topic - so bare with me.
When you got older didn't you feel sorry for the candy store owner who waited for you to pick out 10 cents worth of penny candy; looking each piece over and changing the order every 30 seconds? Dear Mr. Henkel, I'm sure you're in heaven. Thank-you for your good deeds and not going postal. |

One of my favorite candies was Good N' Plenty, which was kind of odd since I didn't like licorice on it's own. Also loved Jawbreakers.

i forgot about chuckles. i ate them in order from favorite to least favorite.

Peanuts
Am I the only one who remembers the redskin peanuts that came in the red round box? They cost a nickel and sometimes if you were lucky, there would be anywhere from a nickel to a dollar bill (dollars were very rare!) inside. Love a sack of salted peanuts in a Coke, too. I've never been much of a sweet-eater, but I do like:
Dark Chocolate with Red Wine Chocolate Covered Cherries York Patties or Junior Mints Mounds Treat? Strange as it may seem to most, I used to bug my mother anytime she made biscuits for some of the dough. Mmmm...can taste it now! I used to make my own biscuits until the others came along and I got lazy. Always had to have some of mine, too. Don't trust the commercial ones, though. |
