Default Sister Wives.

I watched the second episode last night. (This is a reality series, not a sitcom)

All morality and social norms aside, If you took them all as individuals, I feel they are sincere, sweet, kind and loving people...and even realistic people, since they were all raised in polygomy, except for the husband.

I thought I would be.....freaked out, mad, indignant, shocked, but not so much.

The director of this series is certainly able to catch their humaness. I loved the children.

One of the lines last night. Dad, "Tell your mother to put a band aid on it". Kid, "Which mother?"

I haven't seen the show, Gracie, but years ago when I worked in my father-in-law's office, one of our clients was a man who had 3 or 4 wives and lots and lots of children. This was in CA. He was legally married to one woman and the others were not considered wives by the state, but all the children were his dependents. Dad prepared business and personal tax returns. This man had a business as well as I believe 10 children. When he couldn't come to the office, one or two of the women would come in with papers and information we needed. These women truly cared for and respected each other. They would watch the children, their own or their sister-wives' with the same loving attitude. It was a very interesting dynamic without a doubt. They were our clients for years and over the years, their relationship was always caring and loving. I'm not sure what there was about this man that attracted these women, but they all seemed happy and well adjusted.

Default sister wives

I think I read that the Utah state attorney is now looking into this family. Forgot to watch it last night but I agree they all seem happy and well adjusted. Family is not always what it once was and the kids have a very loving home to live in. My only question is how do they financially support this large group? One could argue that the women are very naive and don't know any better having been brought up like that. Maybe so , but it's all they know, it's their frame of reference for family. I find these families very interesting to observe. Wonder if the wives also work and do the kids go to public school or are they home schooled? We'll probably find all that out as the program goes along.
