You don’t know every retiree’s financial situation. I don’t know too many retiree’s that couldn’t use some extra money especially in these uncertain times. Glad To hear you’re so well off.

It's a case of damned if you don't and damned if you do!!! Give it to a needy family so you know where it's going! Geez

I plan on increasing my tips to 50% or maybe 100% when things open up.

Default Seriously?

Maybe YOU don’t need it...but many of us need it to pay our bills. Not all Villagers are floating in dough!! My husband got laid off and the $ will help.

That money should be going to people that have been put out of work and are in need!

It is a Stimulus for the Economy to support business' so the, ones that are open can stay open, and others will follow their lead. you may be retired but younger people need to work, and business is down. I don't like the fact that fat cats can by stock cheap, and air lines get support. Warren Buffet is one of the airline stock holders an he don't need the money. he should be like Disney who are paying their people without a check from us the tax payer.

The primary purpose of the total bill is to provide liquidity, income support for individuals is secondary

The privileged tone of the OP makes me cringe.
Isn't it good that we will be able to help local small businesses by spending the check.

I volunteer at an organization that hears stories of widows or widowers who live on minimal social security. They are in poverty and barely getting by. $1200 will be life changing for them. If you don’t need your $1200 let me know and I will help direct you to some people who desperately need it.

If you really don’t need the $$$. Then save it and spend it at local business establishments when they reopen to support them. ☺️

I have a great idea !

Write a letter or message The Kennedy Center to reject the whopping $25 million and donate 1/2 the money to the homeless in San Francisco, and the other half to the New York homeless.

Being the OP on this topic, I can tell you that our gross income for 2019 was under 45K. That is for a married couple. And you can't spend money at a local business if they are closed.

You are free to donate your check to a charitable organization.

That seems ridiculous to me.
I totally agree.

I definitely shouldn't be getting a penny...as it should be.
