Default Market Basket Food Store New England Only

For Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine Immigrants

For those who are from above , you are aware of the Market Basket Food Stores. They are supreme in New England but are currently practically shutdown by a non union employee strike. A family dispute in ownership has shifted from one side to the other and the CEO was fired. Employees and customers revolting. Check the news. We are visiting the area and store shelves half empty and few customers. Big news up here.

I know. We are heading up there next week. I knew several of the dry goods and cold storage warehouse people. Worked for a hvac company that serviced them back when we still lived there. Highly disappointed because I was hoping to bring back two wheels of sheep's milk cheese I can't find here. At least I can depend on Dick's sporting goods to get Patriots golf gear. Yeah.

My mother (Massachusetts/New Hampshire) told me about it. But, didn't realize how bad it is. She said my sister went in to shop and the people outside were yelling at her not to shop there. The shelves were pretty bare and this was over a week ago.

We are from Massachusetts. I knew the founder Mike DeMoulas - he was an incredible man. I met him when he was getting up their in age and he had two sons who were already feuding over the family business and his money. The chain he created is absolutely incredible, the food was exceptional, prices were unbelievably cheap and the customer service was excellent.

It would appear to me that the "Board" have brought in two people who are basically inept to run a store that needs no changes whatsoever. One comes from Albertsons and the other from Radio Shack.

Another case of an idiot "messing with success"!

Hopefully this will be resolved without ruining a wonderful food store.

Yep. That's the story in a nutshell. Was definately the best place to shop. I hope it's resolved soon also. Lots of good people out of work.

We are up here also. Every Market Basket has hundreds of people outside protesting, the workers risking their jobs. I too know some of the Demoulous family. Lots of family trying to run a business often causes problems. It is a shame because the Market Baskets were wonderful stores, but I'm afraid it's over now. Last Sunday was the last time I was in the store, shelves were already starting to look like the day before a Nor'easter.
All this is a wonderful thing for the other grocery stores including the relatively new one on the scene, Big Y.
Sad to see it happen.
