After reading the verdict form, the jury made the only decision they possibly could. As far as I am concerned they did exactly what was asked of them and did it well. I think they gave their verdict a lot of thought and, unlike the Anthony jurors, have not been accused of just wanting to get out of there. I don't think that was the case with the Anthony jurors, either. You can feel whatever you want about a defendant, but gut feelings are not within the realm of the law. They, too, did what was asked of them.
Not everyone agrees with this verdict. It is the same in all cases. There are no "winners" here, but one side at some point has to win in a court of law given any case. It has been pointed out many times that not guilty does not mean innocent. There is no verdict of innocent. Neither party in this case is "innocent". I have nothing but the utmost respect for our jury system and these and all jurors. Most times the unpopular verdict is the right verdict and takes a lot of courage to render. God bless them every one! Let the healing begin for both families.

Whenever someone brings up that a jury found George Zimmerman not guilty, all I have to say is that juries also found O.J. Simpson and Casey Anthony not guilty as well. That makes them all equally not guilty according to juries.

if you're saying justice is a crap shoot, I agree. If you're saying it never happens, IMO, we got one out of three right.

The jurors were there to see/hear/examine ALL the evidence; to see and hear and evaluate ALL the arguments, histrionics and antics performed by the lawyers; and to see and experience the defendant's persona, demeanor, body language, speech and visible emotions and reactions.....in person!!! |

Why weren't Martin and Fulton in the court room for the reading of the verdict? They could not have possibly known in advance what the jury's decision was going to be. I find this to be totally disrespectful of the legal system that they demanded be used to give justice to their son. The Zimmerman's were there and their son could have been locked up forever!

I believe he has an ongoing lawsuit against NBC for the way they edited and aired a tape of a 911 call early on.

And the public won't know what persuaded these six women to make the decision they made until they take to the microphone and tell us. Hopefully, this will be soon. |

Unfortunate that George had to go through all of this---Travon was a troubled young man and if every one knew about his past--Marajauna --pictures of stolen jewelry, guns and fights were on his cell phone--he was kicked out of school and could not keep out of trouble--This whole thing started when a picture of a 12 year old appeared on the news media and every one felt sorry for the parents! When the truth came out and pictures of the 17 year old boy were posted for the public to see we all started thinking about this whole incident-- most realized the situation was much different than posted in the media--We feel very sorry for the Zimmerman family and the stress George went through during this trial--The justice system works and if only Rev. Al and Jessee Jackson realize this is over now--Start helping your people get a good education and realize your dream --it is provided for every one here in the USA --BUT you must work for it--Move on new and let the Zimmermans live their life as well!

It's called REASONABLE DOUBT. If you have the slightest inclination towards that you cannot convict someone - the prosecution must absolutely prove their case with evidence not theory. I believe both OJ and Casey Anthony were guilty and got lucky - doesn't mean George Zimmerman should suffer because of that. Any sound thinking person in their right mind that watched the trial would have more than reasonable doubt, but all it took was the slightest inkling of that.

Excellent post. So true. A good loving stable family life with both parents in the home, encouraging a good education, loving ties that bind......good morals and goals for the future, some type of religious background.........will at least be a starting point against the negatives the teens encounter in today's world...so that they don't fall prey to the drugs and crime and violence. His unfortunate demise may not have occurred had he been in school where he belonged. I still can't figure out whether that dumber than dumb gal pal of his was just being sarcastic with an attitude or really and truly was that ignorant. Had Rachel been in the courtroom with Juan Martinez as the prosecutor, he would have torn her to shreds.......instead of mollycoddling her dumber than dumb attitude. Juan Martinez was the "bulldog" prosecutor in the Jodi Arias trial.......... Her claim of not being able to read cursive brought back flashes of memory of my postings re how cursive is no longer taught in the school systems.........and people saying it was not needed anymore. Any untimely death of any youth is sad........but to try to make a "saint" out of someone who is not, is sadder yet. Our media including all the mainstream stations has become "too politically correct"........we changed the channel to FOX News which was like a breath of fresh air........... We are just tired of everyone having to be P.C. about everything...... It's "reverse discrimination". |

Like OJ he is guilty, but not of murder, but a civil court will find him guilty of involuntary manslauter and fine him enough to insure he will not become rich from royalties off this horrible tragity. In my mind they were both guilty of too much testosterone and Zimmerman had the bigger stick. I would like to see him blocked from gaining a penny from his actions.
