Default Charles Sowell on latest unruly girl/cop incident

Sowell nails the subject as most of us see it.

Ignoring the Obvious - Thomas Sowell - Page 1

Yes, let us get back to the days when there was discipline. And those who do not measure up get treated accordingly. Today these unruly brats are treat as victims, or someone special, or representative of an offended group or minority group....actually discriminating against the rights of the majority.

Get back to special classes or even special schools where there is some authority to get some results....thus not affecting the other 99% that are in school to be educated.

A clear dose of reality is needed in those who administer schools deferring to the problems rather than do something about them.

If the girl was not transported to the hospital, then the cop did not use unnecessary force.

You do realize that the student will be collecting a huge legal settlement while the cop is collecting unemployment.

Freddie Gray's family will be enjoying their huge payout while the cops will be enjoying prison food and food stamps for those not going to prison but still unemployed.

Moral of the story: well, make it up for yourself.

Small correction. It's "Thomas" not "Charles" you are referring to. He's a very articulate thoughtful man. I always enjoy reading his work. And that's not to say I always agree with him but I certainly always respect his point of view.

This is just another of many cases that support the old reform school policies of the past. Unruly children should be treated as future criminals. It's no wonder why so many folks are sacrificing to send their children to private schools. Public schools do not have discipline and the environment is not conducive to a decent education.

Thomas Sowell has an impressive life story and I have found his writings over the years to reflect an honesty about life. He is objective an well reasoned in his reporting. I hold great respect for this man because of his individualism morality and truth telling.

Our public school system has come apart under the stewardship of the Depart of Education and because of the union holds that create inflexibility and pay reward failing performance. Also criticized are our higher educational institutes where tenure has created many lazy professors who delegate teaching to underlings and an atmosphere of void of honest debate. In short they have become liberal bastions of political correctness stifling free speech and free thought and indoctrinating students to the liberal/socialist cause

Yes, yes, that damn thug hooligan Carson should have been send to reform school if not directly to juvenile detention. No hope for those misbehaving minority "students".

Like dancing it takes two. Unfortunately in too many educational institutions the name of the game is "I'll pretend to learn"and "you'll pretend to teach"

I watch in disbelief the level of the continuing decline of this nation and wonder how I would react as a parent. Television prime time viewing has programs that in my time would be consider porno. Schools that need to be locked down like a fortress under fire. Drugs, casual sex, sex and more sex. Children should have a time for being just children but no longer. Children should be treated like a protected species but too often this is no longer the case.

What does Carson have to do with the disruptive student that had to be forcibly removed from class by a COP?

If you want to reference a criminal student that is related to politics, why not Obama? After all, he used drugs all through school and then on through college. Even though I don't condone lying, drug abuse is worst and Obama is not only a former drug abuser, but a liar also. So, now that you did your little hit and run thing, try to stay close or somewhat close the subject.

With the standards of deceit, lying, unethical, untrustworthy, racist, sexist role models like Obama and Clinton how could anybody else be viewed as coming close to doing something unacceptable.

Surely the standards established by Obama and Clinton apply to all the other candidates as well....right....they can do no wrong....and even if they do ....WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE....
