I do not recall two things....

1. The Catholic Church having a radical wing that was killing people world wide and proclaiming a wish to kill many.

2. The Catholic Church having their own law within the church that dramatically was at odds with the law in the USA.

She just looks like a very successful lawyer who probably goes to some church or another but here academic training and work experiences would have the most affect on her decisions.
