Isn't it a refreshing development?

I suppose one's view of the discourse may depend largely on who's ox is being gored. There are two problems with give and take on a forum like this.
1. It is easy to say things anonymously that you might never say in a face to face conversation, and some people affect a confrontational style they would never display in real life.
2. It is easy to misunderstand or be misunderstood. I try to look at any post I make carefully to see if it conveys the message I am hoping to make. Even at that, things are often interpreted in ways that I never intended. The other problem is that often I try to be as brief and concise as possible and end up leaving out important context.
I have had confrontations on occasion on political forums, and they are never really satifying, where in person things can generally be worked out congenially.

It's really hard to take someone seriously when they say "Freedom-loving Americans" while they have a Confederate Battle flag as part of their avatar (even if it IS part of the Lynyrd Skynrd logo).

I know it's another topic, but I no longer believe the whole "state's rights" argument. I've read the Confederate Constitution and it was NOT up to the states to decide about slavery. You HAD to be a slave state. You HAD to respect "property rights" from other states and you were NOT ALLOWED to later abolish or outlaw slavery. Hence, there were no state's rights and that was a smoke screen.

Default Buggy Bulletin

BULLETIN: Judge finds Bugs guilty of "baiting" out of season without a license. Hmmmm.....have we seen this movie before? The judge in a harsh rebuke of the miscreant, ordered:

a mandatory sentence of listening to Rush Limbaugh, 3 hours a day for 30 days,

a thorough read of all Ann Coulter's books and to be suitably conversant with their content before the court,

go to bed at night with earbuds and iPod playing reruns of Glen Beck

and...............the Buggy One must wear an "I LUV Sarah Palin" button to all Villages gathering until election day.

A group of conservatives hailed the verdict while occupying and picketing Starbuck's, a known denizen for liberals and latte, carrying signs that said, "Where's the bug spray?"

Aren't we protected from cruel and unusual punishment? ANY of these things are horrific and certainly cruel...,.

All of those sound worse than being waterboarded with Dick Cheney turning on the hose.

Yikes, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck? Nope, I would take the waterboarding.

I and I KNOW others do not frequent this place as much because it is pretty much calling names of those the posters oppose, and LITTLE IF ANY true discussion.

This has become a playpen and many have left where there is actual discourse on issues with respect and where you actually think and learn.

Sorry if this in any way upsets posters, but this is how I see it, and I know factually that others feel the same.

It does not upset me but I have enjoyed the back and forth.
I hope I have not bored you too much.

Sooooo.....you call out Coulter, Limbaugh and Beck by name, yet, there is no direct mention or repudiation of Sarah Palin? Could it be a Freudian slip that demonstrates your secret admiration of Sarah? Could you be a closet Palin fan? Interesting you don't protest the part about wearing her button. Perhaps you would prefer the Sarah button to .....let's say......water boarding. It's OK......we understand......she can be irresistible.

Well, let me see, is it better or is it not? Its different, its slowed in volume and the hate has decreased dramatically in the last few months. That does sound like improvement. I altered my posting mentality by meeting one of the best Word-smiths on this forum and since I always had similar views on the direction of his politics, I find I can no longer toss fuel on his flame of political Passion. So I now have to simply agree or disagree without sarcasm, slander, baiting nor even off color humor. Yea, its a little boring now for me, but it is the right way to conduct a discussion. So now, I still stop by several times a day, yet I rarely comment. Unless I have something construction to offer, I read and move on without a post. Hope to run into you again soon RL.
