Default Just Asking

I have been reading a lot for several months on here and have kept my mouth closed. Well anyway, I registered this morning and plan to participate in most of the forums. This political forum seems a bit edgy. I would like to verify that posts in this form are anonymous. I use my real name on the other boards and would like to remain anonymous on this one. I am a democrat.

From what I have seen - when you POST it shows as "Guest", however - when you get an email to show there is a reply to the post - in that email you see the regular user name of the respondent.

One would think that if this site (what a TERRIBLE site is is Internet wise), they would simply not have regular information sent out on a forum where they "infer" that you will only show as "Guest"

Here is an example:
Dear (my user name),

janmcn has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Donald Trump is a Big Fat Liar. - in the The Villages, Florida, Political talk forum of Talk of The Villages.

This thread is located at:

Who on this forum honestly believes that the president could repeal a constitutional amendment with an executive order? I rest my case.

My first day and I screwed up already.

He attempts to do it with E.O.s all the time. Google is your friend, use it.

I am not trying to hide my username on this forum. I am also "good" at the internet and find no reason to do research on any of the user names.

My point for the OP is the fact that your user name is NOT hidden as would be the inference of the "Guest" display name on all posts. It would not at all be difficult coding to not have the actual username included in the email notifications that are sent out when replies are made to a forum.

So, for the OP if (he/she) wanted to make a post on THIS forum as "Guest" and not be known as to what their user name is on the other forums on this site...well, that ship has sailed.

Who cares? Are you afraid of your opinion? What does your reply have to do with the post that you are responding to? If you are worried about having an opinion that conflicts with someone else, then don't express it. No one is forcing you to post your opinion on here. It is just a forum for expressing your view on political issues. If that worries you, that someone may know who you are, then just abstain from posting. It's really pretty simple.

Is comprehension and the ability to read the OP's question too difficult for a Sunday AM? One too many drinks at the Square last night? Over do it line dancing? Just like to argue? Good job sport

He doesn't repeal it, he ignores it and issues his E.O.s.

ALL the presidents do, part of the quid pro quo for campaign "contributors".

This is how NOT to act. Douchey without adding anything.

" I would like to verify that posts in this form are anonymous. I use my real name on the other boards and would like to remain anonymous on this one." -- quote.

Difficult? He/she wants to remain "anonymous." Someone said it is not possible. The statement you are replying to asked "who cares?" and that if you want to be anonymous, this in not the best place. What's difficult about that?

FYI, not that you would care during your attempt to ridicule someone, but I don't drink or frequent the "squares." I don't dance, and am not interested in dancing. Do I like to argue? Apparently, not as much as you, but I usually hold my own against brainwashed liberals. Other than the obnoxious trait you appear to have, I have no idea if you are liberal or not, so I am just shooting in the dark, in my assumption. Many liberals on here do not admit to be liberals. They will defend socialism with their dying breath and then assure everyone that they are conservative or a Republican. RIGHT!

The question is whether a guest is anonymous.

I always thought I was, maybe not.

I don't use email notifications. Does this mean that I am anonymous?

Or if someone is requesting email notifications, and they get one from me automatically, not one that sent on purpose, that's where my Username is revealed. So I am not anonymous.

I hope I wrote this clearly.

On my computer, you are shown as "Guest." I do not receive email notifications so I do not know the answer to that question. Perhaps you can query "Admin" to find out the answer.

My suggestion is that if you wish to say something that requires you to be "anonymous" then you should not. I do not care if my controversial comments are shown under my name or not. I do know that I cannot say what's on my mind on the other forums without being ejected by complaints from sensitive people, so I like this political forum. You can speak my mind without worry, whether or not they know who I am. What I say on here is what I will say to one's face.

You should probably worry more about having a thick enough skin, rather than worrying about whether someone knows your political bent. I get along well with my neighbors that are Democrats. They don't ask me what I think on a political issue and I don't bring up politics to them. I believe in live and let live, except when it comes to criminals or enemies of my country.

100% agree. There is nothing I would say differently in anonymity than I would in a quorum or to one's face. If one has the courage of their beliefs and convictions, stand and be counted.

There are some few who without the anonymity would have absolutely nothing to say. They are abusive and antagonistic....ONLY BECAUSE of the anonymity.

It is time for the silent MAJORITY to be heard.....with respect for each other's opinion.

EO's and signing statements have been used liberally for the past 16 years. One Repub and one Dem....get over it!
