I worked in a union shop for 40 years, 12 as a union member and 28 as part of management. Union jobs in the private sector killed themselves as they forgot you need a customer willing to pay for that product you are making. Without that oft forgotten piece your high paying job is short lived when there is competition, as you can well see. Now the public sector is a different story as they have no competition so tax payers are on hook for the "good" high middle class wages you speak of.

When you send jobs to other countries and make the goods with slave labor, is this what your calling competition? Additionally, companies are rewarded for doing this. We do forget to protect our own, but I guess this does not matter to you.

Forget about slave labor who can compete with foreign minimum wage?

Additionally, companies are rewarded for doing this.
I didn't know that. What companies?

We do forget to protect our own,
How can you protect the factory worker if the customer is not willing to pay more than Walmart charges? And yet there are a lot of people that celebrate how brilliant the Waltons are because they are worth 144 billion dollars while their employees are getting food stamps. Can you see the connection? Isn't there something wrong?

I'm not sure I'm responsible for trade inbalance but I've got big shoulders. Consumers are the ultimate decision makers. For example go to one of the Villages golf shops and read all the tags on the $1000 club sets and see where they are made. What have you purchased in the last 5 years that was actually made in USA. You blame companies but I'll bet you have a dam small list. IMO
