Not sure this applies totally to political but was afraid to add this to the Williams thread on the main board, because that already began to get a political aura to it.

I knew MSNBC was in trouble but was shocked to see the entire network is suffering...

"When Comcast acquired NBCUniversal in 2011, Comcast chairman and CEO Brian Roberts called NBC News "the crown jewel" of his new empire. With good reason: At the time, the news division was dominant on all fronts. 'Today' was number-one in the morning, 'Nightly News' was number-one at night, and 'Meet The Press' was number-one on Sunday.

In four short years, Comcast's "crown jewel" has been tarnished. Not only have 'Today' and 'Meet' both fallen from first place, their falls have been accompanied by the excruciating public humiliation of the programs' top talent. Ann Curry, the former Today co-host, was privately undermined and publicly humiliated before being kicked off the show in 2012. David Gregory, the former moderator of 'Meet The Press', was hung out to dry for over a year before being booted in 2014.

Now, Brian Williams is the subject of an internal investigation into his false claim that he was on-board a Chinook helicopter that was hit by an RPG in Iraq. The Williams controversy has been made worse by the fact that he appears to have continued misleading viewers even as he apologized for his initial error. Meanwhile, 'Nightly News' has been losing ground to ABC's 'World News Tonight,' which is now outperforming 'Nightly' in the coveted 25-to-54 demo.

The decline and fall of NBC News - POLITICO.com

On MSNBC which does in fact owe its existance primarily to politics...

"MSNBC's daytime ratings for January were down 20 percent in total and 37 percent in the demo when compared to the previous year. In primetime, total viewership was down 23 percent, while the demo dropped by 39 percent. On Tuesday, the network's full-day rating was the lowest in nearly a decade. The liberal cable network has also been forced to deal with its own controversies in recent years, including controversial remarks by hosts Martin Bashir and Alec Baldwin, both of whom no longer work at the network."

I am not sure how to read this....cyclical, change in country mood, etc.

More people are watching Aljazeera instead of the biased and inaccurate broadcast news channels.

Not sure how one knows that but I would not bet much on it being factual!

I would be willing to bet that more people watch non USA broadcasts like from England, Germany and some other "civilized" countries than watch Aljazeera.
