Kim is seen as God in North Korea, they worship him. Remember they have no exposure at all to the outside world and the Kim family is their religion, all the books and programs elevate his greatness and magnificence. They will fight to the last man for him. Plus, they have not forgotten that we killed 20% of their population during the Korean War and they absolutely hate us. A war with them is not going to fix anything, we have to be really smart here.

Taking Kim out would be the smart move. The generals might be open to constructive talks as long as they know we will not question their authority over the populace.

Maybe they just want to be left alone...maybe they feel threatened and that is why they seek to show they can defend themselves.

What do you think would happen to N K if it didn't have nukes?

We should have taken him out a long time ago. We certainly have the means to do so, we could even make it look like an inside job.

No Don, that is not the case with this 3rd world country. NK usually postures every year when they go through another famine and can't feed their people. In the past they threatened and whichever president was in office at the time would make a deal with them. They were to cease working on a nuclear power plant that produced weaponized fuel and we would send them so many cargo ships of rice. Then the dictator in charge would agree and we would send the ships. This cycle went on for many years. They are always sending sappers via mini-subs to infiltrate South Korea and that has not ceased. When the old man died, junior with his giant ego thinks he can do one better than his old man. Unfortunately, he is neglecting to feed his people and they are dying by the thousands. Not that I care, because if they really wanted change, they would put a cap in his @ss and be done with it. Winters in NK are the worse. They fish for sea urchins and that is what they have to live on. Ever had sea urchin? Nasty little creature that appears like a ball with spiny porcupine needles. Very painful if you happen to step on one and very nasty tasting, in my opinion.

The only reason we have not taken out NK is two reasons. South Korea does not want to merge with them and have the added burden of supporting their millions. And second, because China is the big brother that will not allow us to attack the little cretin.

It is one of the largest military exercises conducted annually in the world. Foal Eagle has been a source of friction with the government of Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and domestic ROK critics.

Foal Eagle is an exercise conducted by the US and ROK armed forces, consisting of rear area security and stability operations, onward movement of critical assets to the forward area, special operations, ground maneuver, amphibious operations, combat air operations, maritime action group operations and counter special operations forces exercises (CSOFEX).[1][2]

The United Nations Command informs the North Korean People's Army that South Korea and the United States will be conducting the exercise. The United Nations Command also reassured the Korean People's Army at general officer-level talks that these exercises, conducted annually in or around March, are purely defensive in nature[citation needed] and have no connection to ongoing or current events. The Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission monitors the exercise for violations of the Korean Armistice Agreement.[3]"

NK "postures" by showing us that they are watching and CAN defend themselves IF this "exercise" proves to be an actual invasion.

What would we do if Russia and Cuba started amassing strategic weapons each year...calling it an exercise? We answered that question in the 1960s...by almost starting a nuclear war. So why do you condemn NK?
