"IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told Congress on Wednesday that even illegal immigrants who didn’t pay taxes will be able to claim back-refunds once they get Social Security numbers under President Obama’s temporary deportation amnesty.

The revelation — which contradicts what he told Congress last week — comes as lawmakers also raised concerns Mr. Obama’s amnesty could open a window to illegal immigrants finding ways to vote, despite it being against the law."

Mr. Koskinen, testifying to the House oversight committee, said the White House never asked him or anyone else at the IRS about the potential tax effects of his amnesty policy.

“I haven’t talked to the White House about this at all,” he said.



"That expands the universe of people eligible for the tax credit by millions. He said only about 700,000 illegal immigrants currently work and pay taxes using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, but as many as 4 million illegal immigrants could get a stay of deportation and work permits under the temporary amnesty, which would mean they would be eligible to claim back-refunds if they worked those years.

Rep. Mick Mulvaney, the South Carolina Republican who grilled Mr. Koskinen on the tax credits, said he was stunned the White House never checked with the IRS on the tax implications of its move."

Is nobody thinking these things through at all ?

They worked and either got paid legally - thus paying taxes - and should get a Refund if due one - same as you!

If they got paid under the table, no taxes paid, no refund.

You obviously did not read the link, nor think through all the implications....

"“That’s just outrageous,” he said. “If Congress had passed a law doing exactly what the president did, we would have had not only an estimate of the costs, but we would have also been required to propose ways to pay for the programs. This is just another example of the administration operating outside the rule of law.”

Mr. Koskinen said he didn’t know how much money the tax refunds would cost, and said the White House never checked with him before announcing the amnesty. He said the maximum annual credit is between $500 and $600 for an individual.

This is clearly an attempt by the jack booted thugs at the IRS to round up and incarcerate hard working tax paying people. Once they get the names and addresses and even bank routing numbers they can find them and arrest them for using someone else's SSN while working as these illegals don't have their own.

Not until our so called leaders have to balance the federal budget will any of this be addressed, not enough people care. If it was actually costing them every month that would be a game changer. Example the ongoing conflicts that many want to escalate without paying for it.

What I cannot understand is with all the ITINS scams that have taken place...for example and I will link to SNOPES to save all the time...

Now this is, to my knowledge the only way illegal immigrants could file anything with the government......and I cannot understand how this hole continues and is not going to be more prolific.

Can you imagine how many children they claimed and got the tax credit.

I also wonder why they rehired the IRS employes that got fired.

Because no one in the government is ever held responsible for anything. The IRS is also hiring the company that created the great Obamacare website debacle to develop the program to check subsidies. Are you kidding me??? They already showed incompetence but are being rehired.

So Congress has hearing and everyone gets spittin mad, but no one ever does anything but talk about it. I'm disgusted with all of them.

And did you know there are enough outstanding federal taxes owed by IRS employees that would cover the additional money they are asking congress for. Unbelievable - you can work for the IRS and owe back taxes!
