No, I think it's because it's what's best for them. Our economy affects the entire world. Hellooooooo! If we fail, so do many, many other countries.

Sorry, Bucco, not trying to put words in your mouth. I meant you strongly felt John McCain was the better candidate.

Chels, exactly how many people or what percentage of the population makes over $250,000. per year? No where near enough to fund all the programs coming out of Mr. Obama's mouth and the existing financial mess. So many American corporations seem to be struggling right now that adding huge taxes increases could be the death knell. Many of the corporations that do flourish have excellent records of philanthrophy, (Bill Gates comes to mind), and do better without the government in the middle of the handouts. Mr. Obama's programs cannot be supported by that little tax revenue alone. He's going to tax the profits of oil companies to help, that's you and me, right in the bread basket. Increases of that sort are passed directly to the consumer. Middle America will be greatly diminished by the taxes all of his spending would require. Mr. Obama wants to pull out of Iraq immediately and head to Pakistan and Afghanistan, that's not a freebie and there's no cost savings. In fact, military funding will, in all likelihood, need to be increased. And doesn't Pakistan have nuclear weapons?

What is attracting my vote toward Mr. McCain is his record for controlling spending and we can give all the money we want in handouts but look at the last stimulus checks... We're right back where we were and there was no investment in the infrastructure of America to create jobs. Handouts usually require more handout, nature of the beast. Jobs create a living and dignity for families struggling to survive. I think Mr. McCain is a spending reformer and that is why there is such a huge swell of money behind Mr. Obama. You think all of his campaign chest came from the poor people? More likely from the bloated sots living off the government largess at this point wanting their spigot not to dry up.

Well, that's my dog in this fight... Mr. Peachie and I are not rich, we would like to live out the end of our lives in dignity with the money WE saved and feel assured our children will not be ladened with taxes for the rest of their lives that crush a decent living to pay for grandiose, pork barrel spending by our benevolent legislators and endorsed by the standing president.

Thus, my current list is toward McCain but then there are still debates to be considered. (I reserve the right for this to be my opinion and my opinion only and I will still respect the dignified opinions of others whether or not we agree). God help us all!

Default Agree to disagree.

OK Peachie, we will agree to disagree. I don't see McCain as a spending reformer of any kind. He's backing all of Bush's old tax policies. Not to mention his deregulation votes. It's my opinion his "Maverick" days are over. He sold his soul to get this nomination and quite frankly, we'll be paying for that too if he wins.

I agreed, God help us all.

Bucco, you seem to have found a buzz word in socialism. How about a fixed and healed Capitalist Society? Is that out of the realm of possibility to you with Obama? I don't get it.

McCain's theatrics of "parachuting" into Washington to help with this bailout was a joke. He did nothing to help the country, he simply opted for one more photo op.

Yes, absolutely...his training has been in socialism.....his associates have been socialist....his voting thus far in the senate..socialist.....his programs IF YOU READ THEM...socialist..his current staff is loaded with nothing but the radical left wing people.....thus I assume that the answer is that it IS OUT OF THE REALM OF POSSIBLITLY for Sen Obama to all of a sudden convert and accept capitalism

How many edges can a sword have? You are so right about people who have lived beyond their means also having a hand in our present dilemma. It's understandable that families want the stability of a house of their own, but like children, they went ahead with mortgages offered them that they couldn't afford. Institutions are to blame for enticing these willing victims. Then there is the credit card abuse, committed by far too many people. Wall St. greed, golden parachutes, etc. seem to be mostly what is discussed. Do you seriously think that wealthy Henry Paulson, former CEO of Goldman Sachs, is seriously concerned with us, who do live within their means & think first, buy later, but now will be forced to pay for what should never have happened in the first place? We'll be "had" once again. Economic Recovery Act. Please.
